You are looking at a 1952 Willys M38 Korean War era Jeep. A rare Jeep indeed. These were only made for 3 years and is the last of the flat fender models. It comes with a very rare stock Ramsey Winch (with original “wrench”, the Ramsey Winch has a "wrench" which is more like a bolt-on handle to disengage the gears of the winch, that allows you to unspool the cable see photos). The jeep was civilianized in the early 1960’s. It does not have the fording equipment (i.e. carb, distrib, etc.). Runs great. Original engine L4-134. I bought this jeep about 7-8 years ago. I had the radiator re-cored, gas tank cleaned and lined. New brakes, exhaust and new windshield glass replaced. Added back seat frame, I reupholstered all seats. Replaced steering wheel (still have the original). Some of the interior flooring was fiberglassed. I guess that's what folks did in the 60’s. This jeep, body wise, has some rust, it’s not perfect but looks great for a 67 year old war veteran.
Rebuilt carb, 5 new tires. New speedometer cable. 2 wiper vacuum motors, but I did not complete the vacuum connection. Has dash badges. Original military light switch, trailer light jack, but again, I did not complete connection because it’s now 12 volt system. The jeep was originally 24 volt system, again converted to 12v in the 60’s. I also have most manuals, military and civilian.
It's sure to turns heads when going down the road or at local car shows. I'm hoping the next owner can take this war hero to the next level.
