Willys Jeep CJ-2A, early 1946 with column shift and rear PTO
1946 Willys CJ2A Description
1946 early CJ-2A with column shift 3 speed manual transmission. Engine, transmission, and transfer case rebuilt in 2005, less than 300 actual miles since rebuild. (The original mileage listed above is a guess since the original speedometer was not working when I took possession.) Has rear PTO gearbox (condition unknown) and PTO drive shaft but do not have PTO right angle flat pulley gear box assembly. Radiator core was replaced with new copper core in 2014. Gas tank replaced in 2006 with new tank with correct markings. Floor boards are solid for a 70 + year old vehicle, but all body rubber bushings need to be replaced. Window glass is original, no cracks, but white foggy areas around edges. Seat covers are not original, they are the military green canvas type, but the seat frames are original. The front axle assembly is original but the rear axle is military surplus (installed in late 60s). Oil Bath Air cleaner missing, aftermarket unit currently installed. Speedometer and fuel gage were replaced in 2016, I still have the original speedometer. Was converted to 12V DC back in the 60's and was rewired in the 90's with a homemade wire harness. The Jeep does run and the 4X4 is in good running condition, it was driven to its current location August 2018. I currently have a fuel pump problem with it but that will be replaced or repaired prior to sale. This jeep was purchased in 1968 (prior history unknown) to be used as a hunting jeep by my dad. He retired it to his barn in 1990. I moved the jeep to my home in 1998 and have been tinkering on it every since (it has been in the family for 50 years). I do not have the time or finances to complete the project so now I must sell it.
Body issues I know of:
1) Passenger side rear quarter panel were spare tire mount bolts to vehicle has rust through and cracks, see in pictures above.2) Windshield frame has rust through in several spots, see pictures above.3) Tail gate modified, has a lot of rust on bottom edge, see pictures above.4) Rear panels behind taillights have rust through, need to be replaced.5) A lot of surface rust in spots all over vehicle, most of which is repairable.6) Steering wheel coming apart, plastic is crumbling, needs to be replaced.7) Tires hold air but are all dry rotted and not road worthy.8) All body felt and rubber parts are old and need to be replaced.9) Too Many dings and dents to mention, but overall a good prospect for a project jeep to restore or modify to something else.
Vehicle is sold as is where is, no warranty.I have 5 extra rims that go with the jeep, but they all have tires that do not hold air.Email me with any questions or more information if needed.
