1959 Willys 4 X 4 Wagon Arizona Truck!
1959 Willys Station Wagon 475 Description
I have owned this Willys for over 23 years. I bought it from the 2nd owner in Arizona. I have a copy of the Arizona title and it appears to have been sold there new. I've owned 5 wagons, a pick u, a Jeepster and an FC-170. I kept this one the longest because of the amazing condition of the body. All of the sheet metal is original! The only modification to this Jeep was done in the 1970's when the original owner replaced the original flathead (3,200 RPM red line) with a 1967(?) Ford 289 V-8 (4,400 RPM red line) to make in more user friendly to cover the long distances in Arizona. It still has its original transmission (rebuilt), axles, seats, yes even the correct rear ones, suspension etc. I had a correct vintage Warn overdrive installed many years ago and it will cruise along at 70MPH. The body had minor dings, some surface rust and scratches and had been painted tan to slow down the fading process (red fades fast in the Arizona sun!). I had the body and paint professionally done over 15 years ago. I sent all the chrome out to be re-plated over the years, and you will notice this wagon retains it's original bumpers, INCLUDING the rare rear bumper corners and the front guards and over riders. These are often damaged or rusted beyond repair so they are missing on many of these wagons and are very expensive to re-chrome, so you will see many are just painted. There are 12 pieces of chrome just with the bumpers and the grille! The gas can carriers (again, necessary in the desert in the 60's and 70's) and gas cans have also been properly restored. Inside you will find the correct vintage and working gauges, reupholstered original seats, "Willys" reproduction floor mat, original oak cargo compartment strips, original steering wheel, and uncut dash. Underneath you will see the all original floor pans, axles, transmission and even the factory gas tank skid plate! What's left to do? The headliner (I have the "bows" already restored), the weather stripping (sun burnt from the Arizona sun) and the drivers door window just got a hairline crack (I will include a replacement as well as a spare for the passenger side). Other than that, not much. It has been stored inside since it was painted 15 years ago and rarely driven. I just had the carburetor rebuilt and it runs fantastic. I also had the muffler and tailpipe replaced. Take a look at the photos and know you are looking at what is almost a Unicorn, an uncut original Willys 4 X 4 wagon that most of the $$$ have been spent already and you can enjoy! You can't restore one for the reserve and finding a rust free one with all of it's correct parts would take some time.
Please note this is an auction, reserve will not be released. Please don't ask.
If you have any questions, please ask BEFORE placing a bid. True Mileage unknown.
If reserve is met and you are the final bidder please note I need to have a $1,000 deposit by wire transfer to my bank account or by PayPal within 24 hours of auction end. Total amount of bid is due within 3 days of auction completion. Thanks and happy bidding!
