1948 Willys Jeepster 302 V8, PS, PB, Auto Description
Welcome to StreetDreamsTexas as we celebrate our 21st year in the classic and muscle car business. Willys-Overland, the company that held the Jeep trademark after World War II, needed to reenter the civilian market as quickly as possible. This resulted in the CJ series (for Civilian Jeep), the Jeep Wagon in 1946, and the Jeep truck in 1947. Seeing a gap in their product line, Willys developed the Jeepster as an open touring car with rear wheel drive and familiar slab-sided styling. This styling was more a product of tooling than taste, as Willys-Overland lacked the newer stamping machines that could create more complex shapes. Industrial designer Brooks Stevens is credited with styling this jaunty classic within these limits. Our vivid Michigan Yellow 1948 Jeepster perfectly captures the postwar optimism and enthusiasm that that these machines reflected, with the addition of some upgrades in the interests of safety and comfort. a smooth 302 V8, this honey can run all day at speeds that would have the original 4 cylinder gasping for breath. Additional features include power steering, power brakes, HD seat belts, auxiliary gauges, and a C6 (!) automatic transmission. This is remarkable in that Ford used their C6 behind big blocks, so this transmission behind a 302 might last forever! This fun and solid driver has been well maintained and has spent at least some of the past 71 years in California. Shades and sunscreen not included!
