1962 AMC Rambler American Convertible
1962 American Motors Convertible Description
Extensive restoration in 2010-11 including engine rebuild, paint and chrome. Brakes completely rebuilt. Front seats redone as well. I purchased it in 2012 and drove it perhaps 1000 miles when the transmission failed. I had it professionally rebuilt with NOS parts. Subsequently I have installed a new top, electronic ignition, rebuilt carburetor, new water pump and battery. Tires are excellent. In my ownership it has seen less than 1500 miles. Its not perfect but shows and drives well. The rear seat is in need of upholstery and the convertible top motor is not functioning but is present. The fuel gauge is intermittent. Speedometer not working. The paint on the rear corners is worn through from a cover rubbing on them. Although the top is new it has a few pin holes where the folding hardware punctured it prior to adjustment. Starts and runs excellent. It would take little to finish her up. Body and paint are super straight and very well done.
