1975 Audi Fox Description

Hi everyone. Thank you for your interest in this auction for a special 1975 Audi Fox, 1.8 turbo swap resto-mod. This was a Futrell Autowerks project, originally intended for showing at the New Dimensions 12th Annual Car Show in Santa Clara. However, the car could not be completed in time, due to the shop not wanting to cut corners, opting instead to take time and do things right. My understanding is that the shop then went through a reorganization and shifted focus to new cars, so this project was set aside for when time permitted.

I had seen this car in the Futrell shop and asked to buy it a few times, but the owner originally wanted to keep it for his son. With some persistence, I was finally able to convince him to sell the project to me March 2015. With the exception of acquiring some new-old-stock taillights, I have not done anything to the car – it is just as I bought it. I had a chance to buy a house shortly after acquiring the car, but, unfortunately, it's a home without a garage. Without space to work, this Fox has just sat in storage. The car deserves to be finished and enjoyed. And it doesn't make sense for me to keep paying hundreds in storage fees each month, so here we are… I thought about paying a shop to finish the work but always hesitated because my house doesn't even have a carport, so this car would be ruined, parked outside, with tall trees all around.

On the topic of finishing the car… it can be done inexpensively (probably as low as $3,000, depending on your wrenching abilities and/or the shop rate negotiated). Of course, you can spend more, depending on the level which you want to take things. For me, I was going to spend $5,000-ish to have a fun driver, without going crazy-deep. If you're seriously considering this car, you know all this already, so please have a look at the photos (24 here, as that seems to be the maximum allowed, but I've gathered a total of 180, hosted on Photobucket, link through Vimeo, as well as a video slideshow on Vimeo – please search "1975 Audi Fox 1.8t") and details below to get a clearer idea.

Included with the sale is a DVD of season 1 of Futrell TV, showcasing the build.

Boxes of parts for the car included – please see photos.

Futrell Autowerks is in no way affiliated with this sale. They sold me the car, and I am selling it as the current owner.

Car is sold as-is, where-is. Buyer is responsible for pick up / transportation.

I'm happy to assist with international shipping. Just as a point of reference, a friend sold a 911 to Germany about 5 years back, and transport was surprisingly affordable, at $2,000.

Please don't ask about reserve. It is set conservatively, at below what it would cost for just bodywork and paint if you were to have reputable shops do the work.

Thank you again for your interest. Please let me know if you have questions.

INFO GIVEN TO ME BY FUTRELL AUTOWERKS:

Engine is an AEB from a A4 or Passat 97-99 - I don't remember the mileage they claimed it was at (it was low - under 20K I'm sure)

Trans is original four speed. It has a new or lightened flywheels and Stage IV Clutchmasters or Clutchnet clutch kit

Brakes are 10.1 fronts, 8.8" Rear Disks, 22MM Master Cylinder

Coilovers are H&R - for a MK1, fronts are modified for the B1 chassis

The engine is essentially just sitting in there, it needs mounts fabricated, intercooler plumbed, radiator fabbed and plumbed, downpipe/exhaust fabbed and plumbed. Wiring needs to be laid out and ECU/Fuse panel mounted.

No axles, they were readily available back then. The trans is just in place, no mounts are fabbed its not a final install for sure. The front hubs have stub axles in them but I'm pretty sure the new bearings have been ruined by now and would need replacing again (not a big deal)

The car was media blasted and had extensive rust repair to the roof, trunk and quarter panels.

Its a 2000s S2000 silver, very close to Porsche GT Silver.
