Rare 1987 Audi 5000 S Turbo Quattro Wagon that comes loaded with a 5 speed manual transmission, WD, ower leather seats, BS, eated seats, unroof, lloy wheels, uto climate control, nd a turbo charged and intercooled 5 cylinder engine. This car has been my daily driver for a while now and have had the timing belt, ater pump, ront seals, ll motor mounts and trans mounts replaced in the last 3 months. The previous owner was a woman and I have all her records for the car which are quite extensive and complete and probably total over $10,000 over the years she had been driving it. Since I did not see a recent timing belt service I just had it done to be sure.
The car is pretty much unstoppable, as even the 2 feet of recent snow here failed to even make it break a sweat, nd it has just regular all season tires on it no less. I have never needed to even use the locking differential switch on the dash with this car and think unless you are pulling cars out of a ditch its almost unnecessary. The differential switch does work great by the way in both settings. Engine runs good with no leaks, lutch fells really good as well as the gearbox, v joints are all good.
Heat and blower work as they should, C in not working and haven't even bothered to check out why yet. All gauges work as they should in the cluster except for the tach, lock LCD readout on the dash not working. Computer in the cluster works great. All windows work! You probably have another 6 months to a year on the tires depending on how much you drive. Paint is original and faded over most of the car as you would expect but is passable for an Avant wagon like this one. Front bumper is slightly misaligned. Interior seats have some seams let loose in the front, acks are fine. Power seats still work great. Cloth under the sunroof interior is missing. Sunroof itself worked when I got it, ut was hell to close to I have not tried again and would advise to try at your own peril. Needs a radio. Previous owner said the cluster was replaced and has about 30k more miles than listed. In some of the records I noticed the previous owner had purchased a chip for the car.....definitely feels more than the 164 horses from the factory especially when passing and on the highway its lots of fun, probably is closer to 200 by my accurate butt- o- meter, o I use only premium fuel in it just to be safe. I have noticed a hum coming from what sounds like the center differential when the speed exceeds 50mph, ad the fluid checked and was perfect and don't have any problems with it at all. Am I sure its the differential...no...sounds like a wheel bearing too but probably not, o its my best guess for now. Doesn't effect the car's drive ability whatsoever. Hood has a small ding on the end as well as some paint irregularities on it, eft rear quarter panel above the wheel has a ding on it. I have found that the turbo fan that usually comes on for a minute or two after shutdown to cool the turbo has stayed on and not gone off occasionally and for that reason if I drive a long distance I will just disconnect the battery terminal so I don't come back to a dead battery. I would not hesitate to drive this car across country tomorrow if I needed to in its present condition as its a good solid daily driver now.
