1987 BMW 635csi - 5 speed!
1987 BMW 6-Series Description
1987 BMW 635csi, with rare manual transmission - the Big Coupe!
**Located in St. Louis, MO**
This classic 6635 csi is a project, but a manageable one, with a lot of upside potential.
The car lived in California, and then lately in Texas, for the entirety of it's life, I believe.
Undoubtedly, the two strongest features are the manual transmission and the low rust.
Most USA-version BMW 635s were sold as automatics. The 5-speed manual transmission is a rare find.
The bottom is rust free. The only rust I've seen underneath is the rear muffler, with a hole from where condensation pooled on the inside. (The rest of the exhaust is fine.) Wheel wells, fender arches, door bottoms, other typical areas are good. There are two spots around side trim and two one near the sunroof that will require attention when you repaint the car.
Front seats have $700 new covers and look very good. Rear seats are original, and there are imperfections. There are numerous small items on the dash and other interior parts that will need correction over time. Carpet looks good in the photos, but it is not a professional job - it is renewed in front, but not in the rear. Key cylinders for ignition and doors not matching.
Tires are great.
The car will need to be repainted. It had a complete paint job at one time, that probably looked great when it rolled out of the booth. But the surface preparation was inadequate, and it is peeling off in places. You can see this in some of the photos, and I can send more.
This is a project car, but because of the transmission and near-zero rust I believe it is worth the money.
