1972 bmw 2002 "Roundie"
1972 BMW 2002 Description
I have spent a number of years collecting stuff to play with in my retirement but due to my ongoing bout with cancer I have been/am slowly reducing my inventory (now down to 7 cars and 1 Harley) of toys, projects and work related vehicles. Every one of my vehicles is absolutely functional and the cosmetics are always the final step (except my 3 completed and garaged vehicles), which is why some of them don’t look like Prom dates. I drive all my vehicles every week to exercise them and they are kept on battery tenders. They run great and I always keep up their maintenance as and when necessary. This “Roundie” could be used as a daily driver or you can complete the restoration. I drive it 2-3 times per week and it is an absolute blast to drive. I have wanted one of these since I was 16 when they first came out and it breaks my heart to have to let it go. As far as I can tell, this car is almost 100% complete and original. You can tell from the photographs that there is minimal rust, the worst being the couple of small holes in the spare wheel area which I was told was due to sitting water. Because it had been stored in a garage for sometime I removed and flushed the tank, replaced all fluids, went through and serviced the engine as necessary and had the carb rebuilt. I recently had new brakes (including new discs and wheel cylinders) installed, new tires all round, new front wheel bearings, replaced the battery, and had the radiator re-cored. Drivers seat and roof lining both need minor repair but apart from that it really just needs paint. At sometime it has had a repaint in blue Guayana which is now pretty ugly and faded, and my plan was to go back to the original Golf yellow, which I think is a sharp looking color. I has a clear California title with current registration through 7/28/2019. I also have it listed locally so this listing may be withdrawn at any time if sold. Just to be honest, open and fair with everyone I have $9K into it so the local listing is for $12K and I have already been offered $8K but I told the person who made the offer I will not accept their offer until the end of the e-bay listing. Therefore please be aware that the winning bid will need to be more than $8K unless I get a local full price offer for my $12K, at which time my listing would be removed. You can also buy it now at the $12K price. These cars are appreciating at a rapid rate and it is a solid investment for a smart buyer. I am happy to answer any and all questions but please be courteous enough to do that before bidding. Please remember I am a private seller so it is obviously sold as is with no type or warranty, written or implied. I also advise anyone who can, to come by and check it out personally if possible or have someone check it out for you After full payment I can hold the car for a while but depending on how long, it may either have to be moved to the street or cost you a reasonable and fair storage fee.
