1990 BMW 320is (E30 M3 16v 2.0L) Manual, Rare Italian M3 coupe
1990 BMW 3-Series 320is Description
This extremely rare 1990 BMW 320is Coupe is one of just 2,540 cars that BMW specially designed and built only for the Italian and Portuguese markets. a mildly de-stroked version of the infamous E30 M3 S14 Inline 4-cylinder engine, BMW sold these cars exclusively in Italy and Portugal in order to take advantage of the reduced taxes in those countries for cars with motor displacements of 2 liters or less. Power is rated at 192hp, which is only 5hp less than its counterpart M3. However, the 320is weighed in at 242lbs less than the M3, giving it a superior power-to-weight ratio that made this car an M3 in sheep's clothing. Odometer shows 169k kilometers (approx 105k miles) Factory Options for this fantastic 320is consist of; M Sport Suspension, Sliding/vent Roof, Electric, Window Lifts, Electric At Front. This 320is is replete with the factory M-Technic II aero kit with front and rear spoilers, 15" basketweave wheels, de-chromed exterior, aggressively bolstered sport seats, radio-delete, 5-speed manual "dogleg" gearbox, and a limited slip rear differential; all of which leads to an immensely satisfying analog driving experience.
This 320is is finished in proper Diamond Black Metallic over Anthracite cloth interior and has recently undergone a very comprehensive $6k worth of service work including refreshing all the fluids, filters, various seals and gaskets, new brakes, radiator, belts, spark plugs and wires, springs, various suspension bushings, and more. Mild upgrades include a Supersprint rear muffler, H&R sport springs, front and rear sway bars, BMW Motorsport leather shift knob and boot, M-Technic suede 3-spoke sport steering wheel, and xenon headlamps for enhanced nighttime visibility. In short, this car is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next petrol-head owner.
With E30 M3 prices already reaching unobtainable heights, finding a well-kept example at an affordable price is now out of reach for many car fanatics. But with only three 320is's said to have found their way to the United States, unearthing a 320is in the US has been essentially impossible, until now. The price of admission for an E30 M3-equivelent has never looked so good.
