1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport
1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport Description
1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport
I purchased this Native California Gran Sport last year where it was parked for 9 years covered and under a covered. The previous owner had the car painted close to the origianl yellow color but withenamel paint and vinyl pin stripping, there was some minor body repair work to the front right fender. He also installed front disc brakes, a 70's Buick 350-350 3 speed automatic transmission, he said the original 401 2 speed was long gone when he bought the car, he also installed a new black vinyl top, The seller also stated the original steering column was replaced with a stock column shift unit, the shifter lever was removed but the car is an original bucket seat console car. The car could use transmission service and possible rebuilt, the motor is very strong with a rebuiltcarburetor and tune up, I am not sure about the rear end, possible stock but not a possi. The radiator is good and the battery is new. I'v cleaned up the car, performed some mechanical work like brakes, tune up, lube oil and filter, detail and installed a few parts for it. The car still needs to be completed with a few parts and adjustments and possible repairs. I have to many projects and need to let this one go to a new home. California clean frame and body cars are getting harder to locate and restore.
The car has an origanal interior with black bucket seats, door panels, rear seat with seat belts, center console freshened up with black paint but missing the rear light unit, no tach, stock tinted side and rear glass, option exterior window moldings, emergency flasher unit, used chrome wheels with painted black centers, new lug nuts and restored center caps, new tires, brake and battery, fresh tune up, lube oil and filter. The interior head liner was replaced in black by the previous seller. The car has the option clock, rear speaker fader and trunk lights, the radio does not turn on, I had no time to service. This car shows well, drives good but is not a show car, it is a california car as I know it and has the original black and yellow plates. This car still needs some work like shocks, exhaust, front seat belts and some more TLC.
The car is a great color combination with options. The trunk was cleaned and sprayed with trunk paint, the spare tire is used and does not hold air, the original jack unit appears to be all there except the spring to hold the jack in place. The driver and passenger glass will need to be serviced to roll up and down smoothly, again, no time to service.
I am listing the vehicle locally for sale. I do not have any other parts for the car and the vehichle is currently registered none operational. The car was smoged and registered in my name and I have a clear title. Contact me at 951. 219. 9127. if you have any questions or need additional photos.
I also have what appears to be the orignal set of keys and duplicates
