1966 Buick Skylark Description
This is a real 1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport convertible. Only a little over 2,000 of these were produced in 1966, so it is a fairly rare car. It was stored from 1981 until I purchased it last year. Still has the old bias ply tires on it. It has air conditioning, power windows, power seat, power top, tilt wheel, am/fm radio, positraction and hazard flashers. The a/c is not very cold, but does seem to cool slightly. The wipers work on both speeds, but will not turn off...I have unplugged the connector on the motor. Everything else works, including the am/fm radio. I believe the original top is on the car. The boot cover is also with the car. The upholstery is nice except for some tears and separations on the front seat. The carpet was covered with mats and is very nice.
The car was hit on the rear panel and also on the front right fender. There are also scrapes and dents at various places on the body. The floors are solid. The trunk has some rust in the corners near the rear wheel, otherwise solid. There is a small rusted are on the lower driver side fender and around the stainless trim on the pass side rear quarter. I have a trunk lid, a rear panel cut from another Skylark, a front fender and a fender liner that will go with the car. The frame is solid, but does have some surface rust/scale.
The engine runs great. It is original and the number on the block matches the VIN. I drove the car up and down my driveway...transmission seems tight and did not hear any unusual noises. The water pump has a leak. I have a replacement which will also go with the car. The brakes do not work. I have installed a new master cylinder and one new wheel cylinder, but have not yet gotten around to replacing the other three. I will include the remaining cylinders and a rear brake line with the car. (The parking brake does work)
This is a solid, complete and original car that need a restoration. I believe that the paint is original with painted pin striping. Please email any questions. The car must be picked up within three weeks of the sale date. A non-refundable deposit of $500 must be made via Paypal within 48 hours after auction end. Balance of payment must be made with certified bank check or cash within 7 days of sale end date.
