1987 Buick Regal Grand National Turbo Coupe 1987 Grand National Turbo Used Turbo
1987 Buick Regal Grand National Turbo Description
The Buick Grand National was the fastest production car built in 1987. It was also the last year of production for this NASCAR series namesake car, and the last year for the rear drive Regal platform. Even though Buick extended production to try and meet demand, only 20,193 of these cars were made this year. Here is your opportunity to buy an extremely nice, low mileage example of one. Presented in Black, (because like the model T, that's the only color they came in), this car has been tended to with the care a special car like this deserves, and there is a notebook full of maintenance receipts documenting it that you should be sure to ask your salesperson about. The front of the car leads with a simple, all-black grill which is one of the things that distinguishes this '87 from previous models. It is underlined by a body colored bumper and has a power bulge on the hood with lettering that identifies the beast of an engine resting below it. T-roofs and tinted windows look great on this notchback and the back of the car is as clean looking as the front with a lip spoiler on the trailing edge of the trunk. Grand National badging appears on the front fenders as well as the trunk and alloy wheels in black and polished aluminum complete the look. Inside this car you will find a neat and clean interior with sweet looking Grand National seats that have Gray cloth pleated seating surfaces and Black side bolters with the Turbo logo embroidered into the headrests. There is a beefy, three-spoke, leather wrapped steering wheel which is mounted on a tilt column that feels good in your hands. An AutoMeter gauge is mounted on the windshield pillar in order to keep accurate track of boost pressure. There are also auxiliary AutoMeter gauges for oil pressure and water temperature in the center console just in front of the T-handle shifter. There is an air fuel ratio controller mounted to the dash to facilitate fine tuning for maximum performance, and the rest of the dash is stock with comfort and convenience items like air conditioning, cruise control and an AM/FM/Cassette player with an equalizer for your listening pleasure. Grand National floor mats look great protecting the carpets and of-course you can pop the T-roofs out for cruise night. While this car looks cool and is a pleasure to drive around town, the power of the engine under the hood is what this car is all about. Thank goodness Buick engineers decided to spice up the '80s with a car that had some serious power. They used Turbo technology to do so, adding it to their 90-degree V6 engine with outstanding results. This engine is stock other than the addition of a cold air intake. A few gauges have been added to keep accurate track of critical engine functions, and while the factory needs to program the computer and the mixture to run acceptably in all possible situations, there is an ability to fine tune the mixture for "special" situations in this car. Power is sent back through a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive to the rear wheels which puts it on the ground through 235/60R15 tires, and power front disc brakes ensure that you can haul this sweet ride back down from speed when you decide to let it run. Last year of production. A rare, low mileage, awesome car. Come on down and check it out.
