1948 Chevrolet Other Description

For sale is a 1948 Chevrolet Woody Station Wagon project...the lead cover picture is of another very similar project we have...it's meant to provide an idea of what the car body would look like. The other pictures we have included show most of the wood pieces that have survived all these years, including the last 43 years in dry storage...each of the 4 doors are in need of some repairs but have all hinges, door lock latches and window mechanisms in place and are functional...there are pieces that are usable for patterns for nearly every body piece on the car including rear quarter windows, lift gate, tail gate, pillar posts....the upper side long roof headers are present in pieces, all the top lateral bows are present and intact...including the bows that support front metal roof eyebrow and rear metal roof extension. We have a total of 5 seat frames, most of the spring pads, some of the cushions with original correct upholstery intact for patterns, front and rear fenders, hoods, bumpers, etc.
Included also in the sale is an exceptional donor car...it is a 1948 Chevy 4 door sedan...the pristine body and floors with nearly perfect doors, moldings, rear deck lid, etc. sits on a fully restored chassis ....that frame was media blasted, primered and beautifully painted in metallic gun metal gray. All new parts including a rebuilt and never run 235 6 cylinder motor, new transmission, rebuilt rear end, gas tank, all new brakes, steering and suspension parts were installed. One plan could be to use the pristine floor of the 4 door, leaving it resting on that completed frame, remove the body portion and build the woody body from there....
The pictured model car would be available for the buyer to take pictures, draw diagrams, take measurements, compare parts for specific locations as needed ....it is very easy to see how the car goes together...many of the wood parts are restorable and all can be used as patterns for the pieces that need replacing..a majority of the hardware pieces such as hinges, window mechanisms, door latches, door lock hardware and body braces are present....this is not a giant jigsaw puzzle with dozens of mysteries to be solved.
These restored 47 and 48 Chevrolet woodies here in California have sold in the $60K to $75K range when done in original restoration condition...they are far more rare than Fords of the same years....the other rolling chassis will also be an excellent candidate for a street rod project... if that's the case, then the 4 door body and parts could be sold off to offset some of the cost of the builds....one possible option could be to build a 2 door 48 Chevy street rod with a custom body using original style moldings and other patterns used in the building of the original....lots of options and tremendous potential.
We have this package deal for sale locally and reserve the right to end the sale here early...serious buyers are welcome to call and discuss additional details....and of course are strongly encouraged to come and see the projects in person to know exactly what is being offered. please keep in mind that the cost of the restored chassis with all new drive train, labor and all new parts was just under $10K....therefore, you are buying the 2 Woody projects for approximately $3K each... the 4 door body and all it's parts are included as a free bonus
This car is being sold with a bill of sale only....there is no existing title....I placed the title insert as being "salvage" because there was no option given for selling the cars under lost title status.
Our intent here is to raise money to purchase items of comfort and need for homeless or disabled veterans and their families...we are grateful to those who share our passion for caring about the needs of those who have served our country and now find themselves dealing with serious challenges in their lives...Their generosity has allowed us to offer this package at a great price.
Please feel free to contact me at (818)-7849820 Robert with questions...serious buyers who need additional pictures are welcome as well....I can email specific pictures to you to clarify any concern..if your offer is extremely close to our asking price we will consider it.....we cannot help others in need until it sells.....and at this price, first solid buyer will get a great investment in a rare car.
