1972 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe 307/350 10 Bolt
1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Description
Life throws you a curve ball from time to time that is why I'm selling my 1972 Chevelle Malibu. I tried to make a pictured time line showing from when I purchased it to the stage it's at now. The car has a 307/TH350 A/C 10 Bolt 4 Drum. When I purchased it, it had broken park light lenses a broken grille and a power steering box leak. The first thing I did was source out the grille and park lenses but I didn't want after market parts so I got NOS parts. While I waited to receive them I replaced the steering box with a Jeep Grand Cherokee box (World of a difference). I did a complete tune up changed all the oils, belts, gaskets, spark plugs, wires and distributor cap and replaced all 4 brakes. I also got the A/C to work again. The car was purchased from the son of the original owner. The story goes The elderly man started loosing his eye sight and when he would back up the car into his drive way he was hitting and scrapping the side of the car you can see that in the first few pictures. The DMV finally revoked his license and the son took possession of the car. The son tinted the windows, installed headers, installed rear air shock absorbers, cut up the dash to install a stereo and the rear deck panel to install speakers. He tried to repair any damage done to the car and skim coated it with bondo. He changed the wheels to the American racing that you see in the pictures.
After I did the mechanical work to the car I'd takeit out maybe 2-3 time in the summer while I figured out what direction I was going with the car. All I knew is that I wanted to replaced the parts with NOS Parts or Original Old Stock parts.NOS parts list:1.Park lense2. Grille
Original Old Stock1.SS Cowl Hood2. Fender extensions3. Fenders like new. man got rear ended in the 70s and placed them away in garage attic and forgot about them. This was an unbelievable find for me.4. Driver and passenger doors5. Power trunk release6. Rear side marker lights and slotted grille.
AMD After Market Parts list1. Metal inner fender2. Full Trunk Floor Pan3. Trunk drop offs4. Panel between the rear window and trunk.5. Horse shoe shifter from OPGI6. Classic spoon style door handles from kindig-it designs7. New tinted windshield with antenna old one cracked removing.
Once I stocked up on the parts I installed a horse shoe shifter which you can see in picture 16. I also installed a power trunk release with button installed in glove box. And shaved all the key holes and handles. I installed the classic spoon style door handles from kindig-it designs.
So here's my picture time line.Pictures 1-6 is the day I received the car.Picture 4 shows the interiorPicture 5 shows the solid rocker panel and door jamPicture 6 shows the enginePictures 7-9 is the car washed and with the NOS grille and park lenses on for pictures for insurance.Pictures 10-18 shows the body panel replacement.Pictures 10 and 11 shows a rust inhibitor sprayed in between the panels even into between the roof panel.Picture 14 is the 1 piece trunk pan installPicture 15 shows the Metal inner fenders installedPicture 16 shows the horse shoe shifter installedPicture 17 shows the passenger door installedPicture 18 shows all body panels installedPicture 19 shows body prep for Urathane primer to protect body while I Figured out what engine was the 307 getting replaced with.Pictures 20-22 is car primered with urathane primerPictures 23and 24 shows the only hole in the car by driver side rear passenger foot. It was going to get fixed before paint but that brings me to now.The car now leaks trans fluid was told it's a simple fix replacing the rear seal.I didn't bother addressing it because I was replacing the trans too when engine was getting done.
I removed the front bumper and A/C compressor, condenser and A/C brackets because it was going in to get an LS2 engine installed. This is where life threw me that curve ball I mentioned at the beginning. My wife got diagnosed with cancer and this project now came to a halt. We decided that it was best to sell the car incase there is any unforeseen bills that might not get covered by insurance. The winning bidder will receive all original body panels which include original hood both fenders and doors, and power steering box that are all repairable I just chose to replace them. All stainless trim bench seat and rear seat. All Parts listed in my parts list obviously is included as well. You can repair them and sell them which is what I was going to do or put them back on. Please ask me any and all questions before bidding. I will only list this once as I don't have time to continue loosing money listing it. So, please ask your wife, significant other, your uncle, aunt, grandparents, cat, dog whom ever you need to ask before bidding. Please do not bid just to see how high it's going to sell for. I will hold the car for a reasonable amount of time for the new owner while you find a transport company at your expense as long as car is paid in full. A $500. Deposit is expected at auction end and remaining funds within 3 days via bank wire transfer.
ask all questions. I will consider all reasonable offers close to my reserve and will not respond do stupid offers. This is not a new car it's used so don't expect a warranty with it. Mileage is unknown but had to put something down. The new Body panels although new may have a ding in them but was suppose to be taken care of before paint that goes for the used body panel as well. I'm trying to disclose everything that may cross my mind because people tent to want a new car when they buy a used car. Thank you for looking.
