Up for sale is a very clean example of a 1963 Impala. The car was once in the Hurst collection, and was sold in 2013 (see page 79 https://issuu.com/mecumauction/docs/the_hurst_collection_catalog_final_). I have enjoyed this car for several years, and now it is time to let someone else enjoy it.
The car is painted in its original color combination of Satin Silver and Ermine White (color code 984). This is a very rare combination and I have never seen another one like it. The paint shines and shows very well. There are a few small nicks (they do not show up in pictures). There is no rust on or under the car. Floors, braces and trunk are all rust free. The 283 V8 engine, transmission and rear are original to the car (numbers match). The engine runs beautifully - no noises or smoke, and the powerglide transmission shifts smoothly. I was told that the engine/transmission were rebuilt, but I do not have paperwork to back that up. I can tell you that I have had the valve covers off and it is super clean. The engine does have a minor oil leak at the timing chain cover, and the pan. The chrome on the front and rear bumpers are presentable, but are not show quality. The car does not have power steering or power brakes.
The interior (code 842) is very nice with no rips, frays or tears. The seats are solid and firm with no sagging. All the gauges work as they should on the car with the exception of the clock (it is accurate twice a day). All electrical components operate, including all dash lights. Even the trunk light functions properly. All windows are clear with no cracks, and roll up and down smoothly. The original sales order from when the car was purchased new at Byrd Chevrolet in Arab Alabama and the build sheet come with the car.
The car runs straight down the road with no pulling or wandering at all. The car has new brakes, hoses and lines. The driveshaft carrier bearing is also new. The radiator has been boiled out, with new upper and lower hoses installed. The heater core has also been replaced. The original alternator has been rebuilt. Seat belts have been added to front and back. My wife and I have taken this car on weekend getaways to upstate NY and into VT. The car is a pleasure to drive.
If you are looking for a straight, clean, unmolested 1963 Impala in a rare color combo, this is the car for you.
