1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Description

1970 Chevelle
I will start with this I don't think this is a real Super Sport, I purchased it hoping that it might be as it was reportedly a race car for many years. Since it was a LA car I figured the build sheet was on the tank. It was but in such bad shape you could not even touch it, it would fly away as dust. Car does have the original quarters on it and there are not Malibu holes under the rear quarter windows. It does have rocker panel holes however. It has a small block steering column and front sway bar. I do have a SS bar that goes with the car however. Ok with that out of the way I will break down the car in sections.
Engine-454 out of a wrecked motorhome with reportedly 77k miles. We had to put on a new oil pan as the original was to big. While there we replaced the oil pump with a high volume unit and a new screen. The rods were marked as if redone at some time. Motor is all stock and runs well hold 60 pounds of oil pressure. Starts very easy. I tried to reuse the header gaskets as it was late at night and auto part stores were closed. I used high temp silicone on them. It worked for a while now the drivers side leaks bad. Only other non stock part is Accel 8.8 mm race wires and hi torque starter.

Trans- Muncie 4 speed with a letter "B" I pretty sure this is a M21. Hurst competition shifter, Blow proof bellhousing around a hays clutch (3 finger in good shape)
Rear end-Ford 9 inch with Southside Machine upper and lower arms. 389 gears with posi unit. It has drum brakes.
Body- Both fenders have had repairs in the bottom corners-drivers door back corner has a repair and not done the greatest. (However I am including a new drivers door skin to fix this) not shown-- Both quarters are original and have had a small repair behind tire around the lip. Trunk and floors are in good shape but I am sure not prefect. I did find a small area at the drivers feet seam (common area) see pic. GM cowl hood that need to be stripped before paint. New SS grill emblem- door handles and mirrors as well as front bumper. Also I am including a brand new rear bumper.

Interior- overall is nice has newer carpet, seat covers, headliner, package tray, door panels(that have not held up that well) arm rest bases and pads-inside door handles and window cranks-pedal pads. The dash pad is in good shape- the dash has radio holes cut and is out of a 72.
Things that need attention- brakes are mushy (was going to bleed after I removed the line lock)-headlights aren't working as well as the dome light. ( believe its possibly the circuit board behind the gauges-I am including a new one as well. I think I may have some wiper arms for it-I need to look around-tail pipes rattle against body(my pet peeve) The only gauges hooked up are the after market ones. Tires are poor. I hope this gives you a real good overview of the car. Paint and some tlc this could be a nice driver.
Everyone has to buy things for less than the asking price, but I don't have time to play the game right now, so just pretend that I am asking 22k like everyone else and you talked me down. $17,250 is what it takes to buy this car. The only thing I will do is I will buy back the wheels and tires for $400. I can sell them the next time I go to a swap meet. I desire is for you to be happy with the car and no surprises. I only require a $60 deposit thru paypal to pay for the ad. Rest is cash when you come to pick it up.
I live one hour north of Indy and you are welcome and encouraged to see the car in person/ 765 206 0350 Steve Delivery maybe available up to 200 miles one way but you must call first. thankshttps://youtu.be/zZ8oA5A_-iI video of it running may have to copy and paste

Here is a quick video of under the car. I also pointed out the rust spot.

Also here are some answers to a couple questions. Factory tach is not hooked up. I dont know if it will work. Rear end is not a spool. Headliner was replaced. Disc brakes up front. Upper aftermarket control arms on front factory lowers. Flowmaster mufflers and the pipes look good.
This is not a rusty car just has a small hole in floor as shown. Some in both fenders-drivers door and small repairs to the quarter lips as shown in the video. The car was painted sometime in the 90's. I say you can see what you got, its not hiding anything. thanks
