1988 Chevrolet Corvette Description

Red Corvettes are always in demand, and the C4s are poised to become the biggest performance bargains of all time. This 1988 Corvette shows just 29,992 original miles and packs a few smart improvements in the right places: more power, better handling, and a great look. Most folks still think Corvettes should be expensive, so we won't tell them how affordable this one really is. The Torch Red paint looks fantastic even after nearly 30 years, which is probably because Corvette owners are some of the most careful guys you'll meet. Sure, they like to go fast, but these cars are always treated as special toys, not daily drivers, so nice ones like this show up every now and then. That's original paint, not a respray, and it still shines up well and shows off the C4's familiar curves. Fit and finish are typical Corvette, with doors that close with a solid feeling you don't get in a lot of more expensive vehicles. And aside from the A-mold wheels, this one is completely unmodified in the appearance department so it looks right, not goofy like a lot of "customized" Vettes. And as a low-mileage car, you know that things like the taillight lenses, weather-stripping, and the black band that encircles the body are in great shape without the chalky look that comes from sitting outside. This is a nice car.The vivid red leather interior isn't for shy people, but once you're in there, you'll discover that the Corvette's interior is a great place to spend some time. The articulated buckets are as comfortable as they look and adjust in so many directions that everyone can get comfortable behind the wheel. Speaking of the wheel, it's covered in two-tone leather and frames the original digital dash, which is still bright and easy to read. Almost everything was standard equipment in the flagship 'Vette, including A/C, power windows and locks, a trip computer, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo that still sounds decent. The matching red carpets show almost no wear thanks to monogrammed floor mats and, perhaps more importantly, sill guards that keep this high-traffic area looking great. Wear and tear on the leather hides is minimal and for the open-air experience, pull the top off and enjoy. There's even decent storage under the big glass hatch. If the engine looks a little unfamiliar, that's because it's topped with a Lingenfelter SuperRam setup which bolsters low-end torque without killing the high-RPM charge. As a result, this car feels younger and faster than its peers. The low mileage is reflected in the ultra-clean engine bay and there are no signs that this car has ever seen inclement weather or winter salt. The A/C has been converted to R134a refrigerant along with a newer compressor and accumulator, and there's a new IAC valve too. VetteTech headers help build horsepower and sound great, and it'll be hard to resist barking the throttle between shifts of the Doug Nash 4+3 gearbox, which really isn't a bad setup after all. Any C4 is a great handler with awesome brakes, and this one is enhanced with ZR-1 style A-mold wheels and 17-inch performance rubber.C4 Corvettes can't be this affordable forever, and if you want one that's more than just affordable, this 1988 coupe definitely delivers.
