1964 Chevrolet Corvette Description

1964 Chevrolet Corvette

Original Colors, Restored to Z06 Specifications, Equipped with Fuel Injection, Big Tank, Heavy Duty Suspension and Big Brakes

Vin: 40837S104737, Engine# 4104737 FI018RF, Daytona Blue with Dark Blue Interior.

This Fuel-Injected Corvette has been nicely restored in its lovely original color combination Of Daytona blue with dark blue inerior. The restoration was done by Jason Scarscone in Florida in the 1980's, but is holding up extremely well, with the appearance of a restoration done perhaps ten years ago. The car has a host of rare and desirable Z06 equipment on it, including J56 big brakes with correct dual circuit master cylinder, screened backing plates (suggested to be off an early 1963 Z06 by Jim Gessner), M20 gearbox with same Vin as the car, F40 Z06 suspension (including larger front sway bar and significantly heavier spring rate coil springs), and big fuel tank. The tank is not correctly installed (but comes with the car) because current pump gas degrades the tank, so a modern fuel tank is installed, but the correct big tank luggage compartment fiberglass panels are in place. The car also has an original set of Kelsey Hayes knock-off wheels and 4.11 Positraction rear end. The car is also equipped with leather seats and AM/FM Wonderbar radio.

The car makes a strong cosmetic impression. The restoration was obviously done to high standards because it still presents crisply despite having been done some time ago. The paintwork was done to high standards and is glossy, with a few minor surface blemishes and the occasional surface crack. The body is straight and the panels fit and operate excellent. The bright work is very nice with light swirls but good luster and no pitting of significance. The wheels and tires are excellent, as are the glass and lights.

The interior is equally nice, being in excellent condition throughout. The seats show light mellowing only, and the dashboard, carpets, door panels and headliner are all excellent. The switches and gauges are extremely nice as well, all of which reflect the quality of the work that was done and the care with that has been accorded to the car since. The big tank fiberglass panels are in excellent shape as well.

The engine compartment is extremely clean and nicely detailed. It is not quite show quality but in very remarkable condition for a driver level car. The attention to details is good with Delco battery fluid caps and the fuel injection unit is in good shape.

The car runs and drives well. The engine starts easily and is well tuned, particularly considering that it's a early fuel injection system. The engine sounds good and makes great power. The clutch is easy to use and the gear change is positive with a robust feel and good synchromesh. The suspension is firm and works as it should, while the steering displays the vagueness that is typical for the period but does allow the driver to place the car accurately once acclimated to the system. This may be the result of the correct but less effective bias ply tires that the car wears. The brakes works as you would expect for a sport car.

This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a beautifully restored fuel injected Sting Ray that is equipped with a full host of rare and desirable Z06 equipment. Finished in its attractive original color combination, this car provides a substantially similar driving experience to a Z06 at a fraction of the price. With a nicely mellowed restoration and these significant performance upgrades, this is an ideal example to use regularly in events or occasional pleasure drives.

I'm selling this car for a friend, who lives now overseas. I do have the clear title in hand.
