1976 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trailering Special Description

This 1976 Chevrolet Silverado stepside pickup is a perfect example of why these third generation C/K pickups were so wildly popular. It's a highly optioned Trailering Special package that includes plenty of HD upgrades, including a big number-matching 454 V8. But what's best about this rare pickup is it's such a great maintained survivor that you could easily put it to work in between taking it to the car shows. Want rarity? It doesn't get more rare than a Factory 454 V8 with a step-side bed, you hardly see this combination! Want documentation? This truck has tons of it with the original dealer invoices, bill of sale, warranty information, and owner's manuals all included in the sale! This also has only covered 74K original miles since new, making it one of the lowest mileage examples on the road. The Trailering Special almost has a mythical status in the pickup community. They didn't appear on much official material, so many didn't know they existed, but those willing to invest in highly optioned pickups might end up with this rare package. So these were often quite expensive and sometime used as display vehicles or special orders. In fact, we already know the metallic beige paint seen here was a special order. This special factory paint is still on this truck today, and its exceptional condition 40 years later, tells you this was not a down-n-dirty workhorse. The bright bumpers and trim looks fantastic with just the right amount of patina to tell everyone this is original. The stepside bed was not as popular in the '70s, and so it's an attractive and rare sight today. Plus, this gives you the real wood truck bed, which people always love to see. The final exterior upgrades were Chevy's iconic Rally wheels. So more than just a solid survivor, this pickup is downright sporty. When you open the door, you continue to see that this one came loaded right from the factory. Silverado is the highest trim line, and that meant getting features like wood paneling on the door panels & dash, full carpeting, and a "buffalo hide" tan vinyl seat with nice stitching and emblems. Because this premium pickup is so well preserved, you can still see all of these items in full glory today. This Chevy was specially built for long hauls, and it can still be a useful today thanks to great features such as cruise control, tilt steering wheel, full gauge set, and air conditioning converted to R-134a for easy servicing.Under the hood is the largest motor Chevy could install in '76. The 454 cubic-inch V8 looks especially honest in the engine bay because it's the original engine. Even better is that this has averaged less than 1,900 miles a year since new. Besides just huge power and torque, what makes this a Trailering Special are plenty of heavy duty upgrades to give this one at 10,000 GCW. The outstanding capacity combined with the way the motor fires right up and runs strong means this can be you're favorite classic that can still tow your largest toys. And you don't just have to stay local in this pickup. With dual fuel tanks, power steering, three-speed automatic transmission, and front disc brakes, it can comfortably eat up the miles like it was a buffet. This Chevy is a true unique classic, and it even comes with the original factory build sheet, bill of sale, owner's manual, and maintenance records to show off, too. The fact that this can still do more work than some new pickups for less money is just the cherry on top. Call today!!!
