Rare 1962 GMC K2500 4WD Truck - Factory Ordered US Forestry Truck

This rare 1962 GMC K20 2500 3/4 Ton 4WD truck was originally ordered by the US Forestry Service here in Southern California in 1962. It was special ordered by the US Forest Service from the factory in Pontiac, MI (GMC only) and spent its entire life here in Southern California. That is until the gentleman that drove the truck everyday for work retired and was surprised with the truck to keep by the US Forest Service, as he was so in love with the truck. The original owner cherished the truck and drove it every day. He eventually passed in the late 90's and his wife then sold the truck to the second owner. This is a very special truck with an amazing history working here in California. It has to be one of the cleanest trucks I have seen and will make someone a very nice truck for years to come.

Exterior:

It is hard to believe how clean this old truck is, even the frame and undercarriage look amazing!

The truck was recently repainted and although not “show” quality, the paint looks and shows great. All of the glass and metal is near perfect. The wood bed was replaced and looks incredible, along with new stainless steel hardware. It has a custom rear hitch and all of the original tailgate hardware. It did not run a rear bumper, but I will include a new bumper, brackets and hardware with the sale.

Mechanical:

The truck is verymechanicallysound.The truck runs and drives great. It starts without a fuss, idles very smooth.The 305 Big Block V6 has a ton of power and torque mated with the 4 Speed Manual Transmission. It had recently undergone a recent overhaul with new brakes, brake lines, tuneup, fuel system, etc., all preformed by the previous owner who used it as a daily driver. When I purchased the truck from him he offered to deliver the truck, which was about a two and a half hour drive. He told me he had put a ton of miles on it and never had so much as a single problem. It would not be a most comfortable drive, but I would not be afraid to get in it and drive it to NY without a worry.

This old 4WD is a BEAST! If you were to take this truck off road I am sure it could hold its own, even though it is 56 years old.

Interior:

The interior of the cab was also painted and shows very nice. The seat appears to have been recovered at some point and is in very good shape.It has an "upgraded" radio, amplifier and CB with magnetic antenna. Very retro cool!
