1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Description

Sometimes all you want is a simple car with a V8 and timeless good looks, and a few creature comforts never hurt. This 1955 Chevrolet 210 2-door sedan is a no-nonsense shoebox Chevy that runs and drives and great as it looks, and offers all the right upgrades to make it a fantastic cruiser that's still happy to hit the shows.
Thanks to a fairly complete renovation two years ago, this great-looking Chevy has that classic look that never seems to go out of style. Judging by how quickly cars like this sell, we know you guys love the look and it's the kind of car you'd build yourself, preserving the integrity of the original while adding a dose of horsepower that makes it a blast to drive. The classic black paint job looks period-perfect on the simple, clean lines of the '55 Chevy, and they laid off the metallic and pearls so it has a very honest look that's straight out of the '50s. They also resisted the urge to make radical modifications to the body, because, honestly, do you really think you could improve on this? Thankfully, all the original trim is intact, with the 210 offering a less ornate look right out of the box and which works extremely well with the mild makeover this car received. All the trim was restored at the same time, and it includes clean 1-piece bumpers that give it a smooth look that's not at all obvious. This 150 looks fantastic, ready to show or go.
The interior is a matching two-tone black and white Del Ray setup that's a lot flashier than the original upholstery but keeps a period-correct vibe. Matching side panels are beautifully crafted and all the original hardware is intact, including door handles and garnish moldings. Even the original dash and instrument panel are in place, although the gauges are modern Dakota Digital units that fit neatly in the original pod. Upgrades include under-dash air conditioning that uses the original controls, very trick custom stereo that looks like the original AM unit, and a 4-speed manual gearbox with a long-handled Hurst shifter on the floor that purposely curves over the seat for added comfort. All the rubber, window felts, and glass are new and the interior has been extensively soundproofed so it remains comfortable no matter what. The trunk is outfitted like a stocker, right down to a rubber mat and factory jack assembly.
The great thing about the small block Chevy's longevity is that you can drop a modern motor under the hood of a vintage shoebox and it fits perfectly. Thanks to that smooth-running 355 cubic inch V8, this car cruises effortlessly at modern speeds, starts easily, and parts are plentiful just about anywhere in the country, so long trips are worry-free affairs. With 10.71:1 compression, it's happy on pump gas and an electronic ignition system fires it instantly. Painted valve covers and a '50s Cadillac air cleaner dress it up, along with a shiny new 12-volt alternator and A/C compressor. A stock-looking radiator keeps it cool under the harshest conditions, and with a recent dual exhaust system, it has an authoritative rumble to it. The chassis is detailed and still pretty much the way the factory intended, although disc brakes have been installed up front. The front suspension was recently rebuilt so it tracks straight and proves you don't need a modern suspension to have decent ride and handling. 3.08 gears out back mean it's a fantastic highway cruiser and 15-inch Rally wheels with stock-style dog dish hubcaps give the car a hot-rod look and wear simple blackwall radials.
Classic good looks, plenty of power, and enough custom touches to make people look twice, this '55 Chevy is a great way to travel. Call today!
