Big block, four-speed, and a distinctive appearance - this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette is that ideal classic if you like big power and want to be remembered long after you drive away. Sunfire Yellow is this car's original color, and it's a great look on a Sting Ray. Like the hue's name suggests, it's bright and sunny, which makes for a sinisterly terrific contrast for the big block hood and the 427 underneath it (more on that in moment.)... Corvette people will also appreciate the rarity, because this color was only available for two years with less than 4,700 examples produced in total. The paint appears to have been professionally resprayed later in life, and it retains a level of gloss and shine that's far superior to what the factory offered. This coupe is coming off of long-term ownership, and you can easily tell from the pictures that the fiberglass is in great condition - it really lines up straight to crisply showcase the best elements of the C2 body. Stylistic touches like the flush-mounted headlights, sting ray-inspired fender vents, and the crease that defines the entire parameter of this icon. But the part that you'll really like to know is that all the bright work is complete and clean - from the thin bumpers to the cursive Corvette script on the rear. In fact, this one looks correct, right down to the factory wheel covers. The factory-correct black looks great against the exterior yellow. And you can tell there have been the right investments here by the crispness of the leather bucket seats. Plus, the headliner, carpeting, and more feels fresh, too. Even the power window switches have a nice action. It's all been done with the correct materials, and so the atmosphere is quite vintage (you'll even see the correct vertical AM/FM radio is still on display.) But more than just a visual treat, this always remains a driver's car at its heart. A wood grained steering wheel feels grippy, and it gives you a clear view of the full gauge package, including the large speedo and tach. And that chrome shifter ball is like a beacon calling out for your right hand. A big block 427 cubic-inch V8 with a four-barrel carburetor on top is a legend all on its own, and this one is done right. The coupe has had the same owner since 1977, and there are maintenance and restoration receipts that go back that far, too! It means this was a cherished classic. So the big block fires up readily as the dual exhaust give a terrific growl. And you get to enjoy this high performance V8 and its soundtrack to the fullest thanks to the original Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission. More of the right investments means this one feels confident on the road. And that's a good thing, because with the fully independent sports suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, this is the classic that was meant for the back roads. This C2 was the pride in someone's garage for over 40 years. Now it's looking for someone to cherish it for more decades to come. Is that you? Call today!!!
