This 1980 Chevrolet Corvette is one sharp looking third generation representative of Chevy's beloved American sports car. Besides its outstanding curb appeal, it also offers a solid level of road-readiness, carries a period correct engine under its hood and is clad in a high impact color that you just can't stop staring at. A very well-applied burgundy paint job sits in place of the dark blue this 'Vette began life with and while we're certainly fans... of classics wearing their original colors, the updated shade looks outstanding in this setting. You won't find any glaring issues to diminish your enthusiasm, and the rich hue looks impressively even from front to back. Corvettes of this era didn't sport a lot of chrome, which of course really allows the eye-catching color to take center stage, but the chrome that is on display here - the trim surrounding the front windshield, the rocker panel ornamentation and the badging - is all in good form. The T-top configuration is a definite plus, allowing you to experience the fun of open air motoring with protection from the elements just a couple of steps away, and the surprisingly light weight panels this '80 comes with have been painted to provide a nice contrast to their surroundings and fit impressively well. The glass surrounding the cabin is also in sharp condition, including the tinted rear windshield. The interior has been refurbished in tan leather and really looks nice. The signature Corvette buckets are well-contoured, with plenty of support to hold both driver and passenger in place during spirited cornering and their leather surfaces present very well, showing almost no use, and none of the wrinkling or discoloration you might expect. The change from this Chevy's original blue interior color to its present state was done with a lot of attention to detail, so you'll find no traces of the previous shade creeping through as a reminder it's been altered. The dash area is also in great condition, with all of the clear gauges in its instrument cluster fully functional and a straight, supple-looking dash pad sitting over the top - though the dash clock will require some attention. You'll have no shortage of audio options - the Alpine head unit mounted at the front of the center console operates an AM/FM/CD system that also features iPod and Bluetooth connectivity. The air conditioning system has been converted to modern freon, so you and your passengers can stay comfortable in more extreme temperatures. The engine compartment has been well maintained, with no excess residue or obvious signs of leaks showing inside. The 350 cubic inch V8 at its center still wears a factory look and is in very good form, firing up promptly when called upon and teaming with a 4-speed manual transmission to provide just the sort of "hands on" driving experience to suit an iconic nameplate like this. Power steering combines with the Corvette's road-hugging stance to provide great handling, while power disc brakes at all four corners bring its set of 15" stock Corvette wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials to prompt stops. The undercarriage below looks nice and solid - it carries the expected patina you'd expect from a car of its age, but its frame rails and suspension components all look straight and show no signs of this low-slung sports car having been run aground. With its sleek third generation form in top shape and a great looking interior waiting inside the doors, this 1980 Chevrolet Corvette would be a fine addition to any collector's garage. Call today!
