1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Description

It's a whole bunch of fun to rumble up to a gathering of your friends in a big block car. It's even better if it's a Chevelle with its timeless SS styling and graceful curves. For icing on the cake, make sure it has a first-class Black paint job, like this one does, so the light dances off of it dramatically as you roll in. Check it out. Lots of work goes into preparing a car for paint. If you plan to paint it black, then you better take the extra effort to really get it right before a drop of paint hits the car. They did an outstanding job here putting the extra effort in to get the panel gaps straight and the panels smooth, and it shows. After the black was laid down they painted bold white SS stripes on the front and rear as the perfect complement to it. Up front, a cowl induction hood is held down with chrome hood pins and sits over a black and chrome grill with an SS badge in the middle flanked by Quad headlights. The bumpers both front and rear look sharp and shine brightly. Chrome American Racing 20s fill up the fender wells that are trimmed out with chrome piping and SS badges appear on the front fenders as well as the back bumper. Open the door and you will find a black and white interior that is neat and clean and the perfect complement to the paint. The white door panel has vertical pleats with chrome piping along the top and bottom. The bucket seats are comfortable and supportive with pleated centers and smooth side bolsters. This is a mid-sized muscle car, so there is plenty of room in the back seat too for friends to join you on a cruise night or a road trip. The black three spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and has a bowtie center button. It sits in front of a black dashboard that is stock except for a trio of Sunpro gauges to keep accurate track of water temp, oil pressure and voltage. There is a horseshoe shifter for the automatic transmission mounted in the center console which also has a storage compartment built into it. Go ahead, pull the pins and pop the hood. Under it you will find a healthy and nicely dressed out 454 cubic inch powerhouse. A free flow filter gathers up all the air that the cowl induction hood can send it. A Holley 4-barrel carb handles the mixing duties and sends it to the engine through an Edelbrock TM2.0 intake. The heads are painted blue (which matches the air filter assembly) and the Hooker headers are ceramic coated in blue with the valve covers black for a really trick look to the engine bay. The exhaust heads back through Flowmaster mufflers and this car has an awesome rumble to it at idle! The power is sent back through a 3-speed automatic trans to a KD 2.73 (large ring gear) 12-bolt rear end (with the correct SS boxed rear trailing arms) and then to the ground through 275/35R20s mounted on those American Racing wheels. 255/35R20s up front handle the turning through power steering and power front disc brakes assure you that you can haul this car back down from speed when you decide to cut it loose. Big block thunder in a shiny black Chevelle. It doesn't much better than that. Come on down and check it out. You might decide to take it home and rattle your neighbors' windows with it on the way out to cruise night.
