1970 Chevrolet C-10 Description

“1970 Chevrolet C-10 CST” Custom Sport Truck – 1/2 Ton Fleetside

Excellent Condition - Frame-off rebuild

I thought I would have this truck forever but times (and needs) change, so up for sale goes my beautiful 1970 frame-off restored (in 2013) Chevy C-10 Custom Sport Truck.

VIN# CE140F151109 – CLEAN TITLE

EXTERIOR:

The truck has a great color combination with an iconic 1970’s green paint and white cab. This restored truck is in remarkable, rust-free condition. When I purchased it in 2013 it had no power steering or power brakes. I added both using conversion kits. For the brakes I put disks on all four wheels and add a power brake booster assembly and new master cylinder. New drop spindles were added which lowered the front of the truck about 1.75 inches and gives it a great, mean-looking stance. The power steering is Classic Performance Products power steering conversion kit with a 500 series power steering box. This truck drives so straight and smooth you can steer with one finger. Not kidding. Under the hood lies a workhorse Chevy 350 original small-block with a double-barrel Edelbrock carburetor. When it comes to the 2.5 inch exhaust people have always told me that when I hit the gas the engine roars. The odometer currently reads 94,924. The odometer when I purchased it, right after the restoration, was 92,732 It has newer Firestone Firehawk SS20 tires (255/70/15) with LOTS of tread left and brand new (just installed) 6-lug American Racing black rally wheels. The only dents are in the front right fender molding, which is just a molded, aftermarket piece and removable. It is strictly personal preference if you want to keep them on. The metal underneath is not damaged. The left rocker panel was replaced in 2014 and computer color matched to the existing paint. There are NO dents. There is a spot on the interior driver's door jam where the metal was rubbing prior to getting the door adjusted. The door closes well now. Finally, there is only one imperfection in the paint that appears as a scratch (but it’s not) and has been there since I purchased the truck. It’s located in the lower portion of the front left part of the bed.

INTERIOR:

As most of you know, the gas tank on these C-10s was originally mounted behind the bench seat, INSIDE the cab…too dangerous for me. Most of the C-10s I’m seeing online still have the tank mounted in its original location. I removed the tank and put in a new 19-gallon stainless steel fuel tank behind the rear axle, under the back end of the bed. The fill pipe is recessed inside the bed for very easy fueling. In addition to the safety, the really great benefit to relocating the tank is the extra space. I got at least five extra inches of legroom and I'm over 6”3. That equals comfort.
The bench seat has been reupholstered in new, green vinyl with dark-green hounds tooth fabric. The matching original dash has no flaws, scratches or cracks and the new interior door vinyl corresponds really well to keep that 70’s look updated and clean.

The original lap-only seat belts are included and need to be installed. There is a factory perforated circular stamp in the steel on the upper portion of the B-pillar, inside the cab. Punch out the remaining piece to attach newer-style shoulder straps (not included).

ENGINE & TRANS: a Chevy 350 small-block with a 400 turbo transmission. The alternator was rebuilt on 9/21/17.

This truck is in incredible condition but it’s not perfect. I believe in honesty and full disclosure, it’s how I would want to buy a big purchase like this. Here’s what you should know before buying:

  • The C-10 starts the same way every time…when warm, it starts within about two to three seconds. When cold, it needs to crank about five seconds, followed by a second ignition crank of two to three seconds. No smoke from engine or exhaust. It runs, drives and performs fantastically in all areas.

  • The paint on the bed is about a shade or two lighter than the paint on the cab. You can see it most when viewing straight on and when it’s sunny, but not when viewing sidelong. The paint variation was like this when I purchased the truck. My intention was to repaint the whole thing at some point but the shade difference is slight and never bothered me enough to repaint it. At a glance, it isn’t noticeable.

  • The bed is in great condition but not coated with any protective product. I wanted to do it this summer but when I decided to sell I figured there are so many products and preferences, I will leave it to the new owner. You can also keep it as is. Since this truck has been stored in an alarmed garage, under a cover, with heated floors there are no elements eating away at it.

  • All gauges work except for temperature and fuel. I believe (not certain) the fuel just needs the float adjusted.

  • The left rear taillight does not work. It’s probably just a bulb because it used to work but I haven’t had time to look.

All the major work on this truck has been done already.

Please feel free to call with questions, make arrangements to see the truck in person or to buy it now. Thanks for looking!
