1956 Chevrolet Corvette Description

1956 Corvette
56 Corvette. Finished in rare Artic blue with contrasting coves (less than 390 produced) with beautiful red interior with a white soft top. Dual quads. Heater delete. Radio delete. I was told by the 1st and 2nd owners family this is how the car came originally. Im the 3rd owner. It has less than 1000 miles on it since being frame off, nut and bolt restored. Ive owned the car for about 5 years. Ive owned many Corvettes and Ive attended many of the larger Corvette shows for years, in my opinion this is one of the most beautiful early Corvettes Ive ever seen. This car has always meant a lot to my family. We actually drove away from the church after our wedding in this car. I purchased it from the wife of the 2nd owner. He had just passed due to complications due to his exposure to agent orange in Vietnam. The first owner was the 2nd owners cousin. It was purchased new at Applegate Chevrolet in Flint MI (original Applegate keychain included along with original 56 Corvette sales brochures and other 56 Corvette literature). In 1971, after returning home from Vietnam, the 2nd owner (Mr McGregor) purchased the Corvette for $400. He drove it for years then stored it in his mothers garage until 2010. He then started on a frame off, nut bolt restoration. He wanted to make it more driver friendly so he added a Jim Meyers bolt on front clip with rack and pinion and Wilwood front disc brakes, Dewitts radiator, and swapped the original 3 speed (included with sale) for a Muncie 4 speed. Mr McGregor, his wife and cousin (1st owner) all retired from General Motors in the Flint MI area. Mr McGregor worked in the Flint plant where small blocks were produced. He removed the tired 265 and built an extremely tight 327 ce Corvette engine for the car. The engine was mildly built to have plenty of power but be very tame, idle calmly and run on pump gas. Perfect for a car like this because in my opinion a classy car such as this doesn't need an over the top, obnoxiously built motor. The original heads and rar, 1956 only dual quads are included with the sale. The dual quads were professionally restored and haven't been bolted on since completed. Also included is a rare, 1956 only hardtop. It is in primer and will need to be restored before use. Every area was touched in the frame off restoration. The underbody, frame is clean and tidy. All gauges work. All brightwork restored. Every hinge, latch, bezel, the list goes on and on. Even the convertible top frame was replaced. Every wire. Every bolt. All was touched. This is the best driving early Corvette, including C2s,and C3s Ive ever owed. Most early Corvettes are known to be rough riders, not the case here. This is due in large part to the Jim Meyers add on, but the beauty of it is that its only bolt on. Ive always enjoyed it because of the increased handling, steering and braking while still maintaining the original look. I will be happy to answer any questions. ninethreeseven 683 O 535. Im available to show the car during the course of the auction. If its possible, I do encourage serious perspective buyers to come to a look.
