SS Hardtop 4-Speed

A collector of classic cars is thinning out his assortment of vintage cars and has decided to sell his beautiful 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS hardtop. The Chevy had a frame off restoration approximately 12 years ago and started with a southern rust-free body. Current owner purchased the car in 2012 and added several upgrades which are listed below. The mileage since completion is approximately 2000.

The SS is not being advertised as a ‘numbers matching’ vehicle. When the car was restored the original silver, exterior paint was changed to the Roman Red and the original 327 c.i. /300 h.p. engine was replaced with a period correct 327. The 4-speed transmission is a recently rebuilt M-21 unit w/Hurst shifter and linkage.

Factory original style power steering is complimented with present day power brakes (discs front & drums rear), 15” SS wheels, and Vintage A/C & heat.

Great performer and a trophy winner at any car show.

SPECIFICS

Body & Paint

2-stage urethane Roman Red paint. Frame-off restoration in 2007

Chrome, Glass, Stainless, and Electrical are in excellent condition

The rear tail lights were replaced with Chevrolet Bowtie items, originals included.

Engine & Transmission

Rebuilt period correct stock compression & hydraulic cam 327 c.i./300 h.p. V-8

Edelbrock intake & 650 cfm carburetor (originals included)

HEI ignition

Rebuilt M-21 4-speed transmission

New Clutch pack and flywheel

Hurst shifter & linkage

New 4-core radiator

New galvanized dual exhaust system

Chassis & Suspension

Rebuilt stock front and rear suspensions with all new bushings, and shocks.

New power brake system (discs front & drums rear) including hardware and lines.

Power steering

Coker 15” SS wheels w/New B.F. Goodrich 205 x 65R x 15 radials filled w/nitrogen

Interior

Stock re-upholstered SS interior including headliner

Re-programed AM radio to play FM only

All the original warning lights and gauges work. Original speedo works but ‘sticks’ so an after-market unit was added.

Vintage A/C & heat system

After market gauges include: Autometer Speedometer, Sun Tachometer, Sunpro voltage, water temp, oil pressure, & Fuel pressure
