1972 Chevrolet El Camino Super Sport Description

I'm not really sure where to start. I've owned many El Camino's in the past 35 years and this one is without a doubt the sweetest one I have owned. I'm only selling because I'm moving to another state and I have to thin out my classic car collection. I bought this Elco about two years ago from a fellow in Napa, Ca. He drove it around to car shows and tooled around town here and there. The paint, (Hugger Orange) is very nice and is about three years old. There are a couple very minor touch ups that has been done in non conspicious areas but you really have to go on a search in order to find them. The interior has been completely redone. Door panels, seats, headliner, carpet, dash and dash pad are as new. The glass is nice and not pitted or worn.
Everything on this car works as it should including head lights, turn signals, interior lights, horn, backup lights, and brake lights. Even the clock works! It also has the original SS steering wheel and tilt steering column! The car is an original A/C equipped car. Currently the A/C compressor, bracketry, and condenser are removed from the car to accomodate the taller valve covers but I have all the A/C stuff in a box that's included in the sale if the new buyer wants to hook it back up, it's about a two hour job. It worked when I bought the car.
The car is an original California car and still sports the original blue and yellow license plates. I have not been able to find any rust anywhere on the car.
The bumpers, bed trim, window trim, door mouldings, grille are "like new". The body in my is close to lazer straight with no dents or dings and the doors open and close with ease, just like they did the day she was born. The bed has been Rhino lined.
There are no cheap parts on this car! The engine and all of it's components have less than 500 miles on them, including the radiator, fan, water pump, fuel pump, belts, hoses, alternator and battery. The engine is a 4 bolt, period correct .30 over block that was balanced and built to 1971 LT1 specs.(330 HP). The rotating assembly is all Eagle with forged flat top pistons. Before the rebuild it had .125 domed pistons good for 370 hp but I didn't want to run race fuel. The heads are 2.02/1.64's. The oil pan is 7 quart capacity with a flapper. The oil pressure runs 60+ psi all day long with a Melling high volume pump. The cam is a solid lifter cam with .551 lift with true roller rockers. The headers are ceramic coated and the entire exhaust system is new with 40 series Flowmaster mufflers. The i
gnition is MSD ready to run distributor with 8mm wires. Carbuerator is a Proform 750 with an Edlebrock performer aluminum intake. This car runs very strong!
You know how sometimes you hear a car at a stop light that it's engine sounds so pretty that you roll down your window just so you hear it better? Well, this is THAT car! People literally do that when they hear this car. The cowl induction hood flapper works as it should too!
The Muncie M21 transmission was rebuilt one year ago. The rear end is an open diff 12 bolt with 3:73 gears that are also new. The rear suspension is from UMI which includes new trailing arms, springs, stabilizers, shocks, bushings etc... The front end was just completely rebuilt with all new neopreme bushings. Brakes are power disc up front with drums in back. The driveline has new u joints and was balanced. The fuel tank is also new!
This car starts, drives straight and true and turns and stops as it should! The odometer I'm sure has turned over once so the car itself probably has 115,000 miles on her.
You will need to look far and wide to find a nicer El Camino. I can almost say that we jacked up the radiator cap and put a new car under it, except the radiator cap is new too! I'm pretty certain that I way over spent getting this car as nice as it is but as the old cliche' goes, "my loss, your gain". This is a very nice frame on restoration!
I'm sure that I've forgotten a few things but will add them as I find them. So if you're looking for a next to new, and in a lot of respects, better than new 47 year old car for about half of what it would cost to make one that's this nice, then you should probably press the buy it now button before someone beats you to it!
