1961 Chevrolet Impala, 2 Door Hardtop, the"Bubbletop" 348 V/8 Auto Trans Originl
1961 Chevrolet Impala Description
1961 Chevrolet Impala, 2 Door Hardtop, commonly called the "Bubbletop". Its an original survivor car, its not been repainted, reupholstered, hot rodded or customized. Its like a barn find car, its not a new condition car, it needs work, like all the upholstery needs to be replaced, well the head liner isn't in need of replacement but that's all. The carpet has been taken out exposing floor pans that are in perfect condition, no rust at all and they are the originals. Same with the trunk pans, no rust, it must have been garaged as it had set for many years before the man I got it from got it. The body is quite strait, it doesn't look like its ever been in a serious wreck, it has a minor dent in the door and another by the rear tire. The dent by the door has been partially fixed otherwise the body is amazingly strait. It has numerous dents and dings on the chrome side molding. The glass is in excellent condition, no cracks. The motor starts up great and it drives ok but it has been sitting for a long time and could use some tuning up, new tires etc. I had the carburetor gone thru, my mechanic put a kit in it and did some other minor work. It has a puff of smoke when its first started but dosen't smoke going down the road. The original air cleaner is missing and I put together what I had that would work, it ought to have a more original one. The transmission works, it good to go, breaks too, all i've taken it on is short drives around town, its fun and turns lots of heads, its not going to be good for a long trip without newer tires etc, the tires on it are like from the 1960's, Bias ply. The underneath of the car is very strait and not fooled with, some signs on lite rust, just what you would expect on a car this age that hasn't been restored. My friend that restores cars thinks it would be a great car to restore as it hasn't been worked over much. Its a classic and should make a good car for the right person. Buyer is responsible for making arrangements to get the car. That is you will have to make arrangements to get it shipped to where you live. We live on Interstate 15 the main road from So.Cal. to Montana, were in the middle of Utah.
