1966 Chevrolet Impala Sports Hardtop, 28,000 mile survivor
You are looking at one of the nicest unmolested survivor Impalas remaining in the northeast. This Impala has traveled only 28,000 miles since it rolled off the assembly line 53 years ago, amounting to about 500 miles per year.
It was purchased by an older woman who stopped driving, and stored it under a tarp in her garage for many years before it found the light of day again a few years back. The storage damaged the paint finish on the roof, hood, and trunk lid, and so the car was completely stripped and repainted in its original color, 'Ermine White.' The paint job is attractive, but to reach high show standards, would need some attention with color sanding and buffing to make it even more specular. At the time of painting, the rubber door seals and window felts were also replaced to weatherproof the interior.
It has a beautiful, completely original red cloth interior. The seats, carpet, dashboard, door panels and headliner are in remarkable, clean, unblemished condition. It makes quite a stunning color combination, compared to today's cars, which are mostly gray inside and out!
Mechanically, the car was equipped with the 283 cubic inch two barrel V8 (195 horsepower), PowerGlide automatic transmission, power steering, AM radio, and electric clock. Everything is functioning as intended, with the exception of the radio - which is not much missed since in our area there remain very few AM stations.
Within the last year, I have installed new MOOG front end components, to include control arm bushings and ball joints, to resolve the old car 'squeaky' suspension. No more squeak! Also, all four brake drums have been refurbished with new cylinders, brake shoes, and the drums have been properly turned. This car runs smoothly and quietly, and just floats down the road without any squeaks or rattles. There are no leaks or drips, surprising for the age of the vehicle!
The trunk is tidy and rust free, with the original spare and tools still back there. The chrome plating on the bumpers, and the stainless and anodized aluminum trim throughout the vehicle are in amazing condition.
Why are we selling? We have recently acquired a little roadster convertible to enjoy while we are still young enough to get in and out of it, and only have room and time for one hobby car at a time.
Included in the price are all the materials needed to take the cosmetic appearance of the engine to a show level, paint, gaskets, carburetor repair kit, etc.
Please note I can assist your shipper with loading, but I cannot deliver this vehicle. Bidding will be limited to buyers in the U. S. and Canada, and no warranties are expressed or implied.
A vintage, original 1966 Impala hardtop, 28,000 original miles - for about half the price of a modern plastic one. Enjoy looking and bidding!
