1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 Spyder Description

Newly completed resto-mod on this beautiful 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 Spyder Convertible. I removed everything down to the bare bod, sent it for media blast andthen to Paint & Body. Body was epoxy primed and blocked till extremely straight then painted with House Of Color Red Candy Apple Metallic Pearl over a white undercoat and finished with the best clear available from PPG. This car draws a crowd even when I stop for gas. I pulled the engine and transaxle and entire front suspension along with fuel tank. I built the numbers matching engine to original specs but I had the heads re-chambered, ported & Polished and extra large valves installed by American Flat Six. I added a high performance cam shaft,new aluminum timing gears, resized nitrided rods and crankshaft, new performance pistons & fully finned cylinders with chrome rings plus all new bearings which explains the need for a 1000 mile break in period. I rebuilt the turbocharger while lightening the load on the vane pump for faster spin up and quicker response. Once completely broken in and after getting a final performance tune, I expect up to 220 horse power out of this motor. I added a new Weber 45 dcoe carburetor and intake manifold modified by Ray Sedman to have a vacuum secondary to allow full use of this carburetor without dead spots. Since the new carburetor allows for much higher turbo boost than factory specs, I have shortened the throttle travel a bit as to not damage the motor. I put on a new convertible top along with all new carpet and insulation and new complete interior. I replaced the windshield and left wing vent glass along with a new fuel tank and electric fuel pump. New Mark IV A/C unit from Vintage Air & custom copper piping and front condensers & fans by me. Lower new aluminum wheels on a 4 inch wider track allow for safer, better handling as well as a much better looking stance.
