1980 C-3 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, 350 SB, Major Custom Bodywork, Runs Great.
1980 Chevrolet Corvette Description
This is a custom built 1980 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The odometer shows 43,294. I bought it 3 1/2 years ago with 40,338 miles showing. The speedo cable broke about a year ago, so it is probably actually more miles than showing. I bought this from the estate of a private car builder/collector, he had passed away by the time I bought it. I do not know what work he did to the sb 350 engine, but it is certainly not stock. I am a car guy, I own 2-3 of these C-3's most of the time, I buy and sell one about once a year. I have tried to figure out what was done mechanically, I am sure there is a stall converter, maybe around a2000. The valve body in the 3 speed auto is solid, so it has some shift kit in it. Headers and side pipes, upgraded carb and ignition. It runs out very nicely, great sound from the pipes. Red leather interior, no rips or tears. Good carpeting, nice stereo with aftermarket speaker system. T tops. Sebring headlights, the body was refit with custom heavy glasswork, the seams on the front and rear bumpers have been removed, the gills/louvers are all glassed in, the rear wing is very solid, not an add-on, a glass job. The speedometer cable needs to be replaced, as this is an "85mph" speedo, and we know what happens to those cables. Left sunvisor should be replaced. The aftermarket console cushion has been added, Chevy never offered it during production, an absolute needed item. Rear tires are brand new, maybe 100 miles on them. I had one blowout recently so I replaced them both. Runs cool, the original heat/ac levers and assembly doesn't really work very well, as they never did fresh from the factory. There is a small on/off valve in the engine compartment that lets water go through the heater coils, or not. A summer/winter 1 minute adjustment. The paint shows some dings and chips, no body cracks or damage. I heard a rumor about how much he paid for this paint job, it is nice enough that I have never considered having it repainted. Little stone chips, some small scrubs, looks great at 10 feet, but will not get you a "best paint" trophy at the show. I give it an 8. It is not perfect, but very nice. Turns heads wherever I go, nice driver, solid car. It will put out a "puff" of oil smoke when you fire it up after it has been sitting warm, it does not burn oil, simply the small bit at warm restart. I think that might be valve guides.
