1967 Chevrolet Nova Coupe
For consignment a barn find from another era sitting there with only 12,000 miles at the time, waiting to be restored. And eventually this would happen. So, we have fairly new paint, with a few faults. Ermine White with 2 faux carbon fiber stripes racing toward the rear, emblazoned with a large red SS badge and a metal scoop that gulps down air to be lit and produce the power needed to spin the wheels.
Exterior
Ermine White covers all the straight steel, and it appears well minded gaps. Badging is all there, and presents nicely, almost like new. The wide dual faux carbon fiber stripes are on the hood and race past a tunnel ram intake scoop. Bumpers and egg crate grille are clean and dimple and rust free. Dark tinted glass and glass trim is all sorted nicely, as are side view chromed mirror, and slightly pitted door handles. Rally wheels and 255/60R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street tires are on the rear and 195/65R15's on the front.
Interior
Not only restored but upgraded as well, to bring us form the 1960's up into the 1990's. We see 2 tone APC racing seats up front with white vinyl bolsters and black suede surrounds with some insert panels. The rear bench appears as original and is mostly black with a center white vinyl stripe. The dash retains most of its originality, but has a column mounted tach and shift light, as well as a trio of under dash mounted gauges to drivers left. Chevy air conditioning is seen under the dash, but there is no compressor under the hood, so currently it is inoperable. In the hump a new Cheetah SCS shifter sits between the new buckets. A nice tight headliner is above, and black carpet floods the floors.
Drivetrain
A TKT 350ci V8 with a fairly large cam, makes this a ground pounder. It is fed by Holley 660 CFM dual 4-barrel carbs sitting atop an Edelbrock tunnel ram and backed by a recently rebuilt TH400 3-speed automatic. A 12-bolt rear completes the drivetrain.
Undercarriage
All clean and no rust environment presenting nicely. Frame is solid, floorpans are like new, and suspension is all buttoned up. Some repair work is evident in the trunk, consisting of patch panels to the trunk floor
Drive-Ability
Currently set up for maximum power, I leave the driving to our professional decoder, and self-described muscle car freak. Of course, I went along for the ride, and I can tell you it was a kick in the pants. This car is set up to go straight and does so very well. Consigner stated that it can be made more street-able by lowering the timing, and a vacuum pod can be hooked up the transmission for normal shifting. I kind of enjoyed the kick ass mode myself! A good sprinter.
An interesting barn find now street car which can take charge with most stuff they will throw at you on the street. It is nice to have the adjustments to calm it down a bit, but all in all a nice build, plenty of power and sound, and comfortable racing seats.
