1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Bel Air Description

57belairtimecapsule

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air with 4,883 actual miles.

Over 60 images below the description..

This car hasn't been on the road since 1973. Everything on this car is original factory equipment from top to bottom

and basically untouched original except for the paint.

There is no wear on the original upholstery, steering wheel, foot pedals or really anywhere else on the car. Check

the images of under the dash. It looks like a new car. You have to see it to believe it.

It was stored in a garage since 1973 that was supposedly heated by kerosene. It was initially thought that the buildup and discoloration on the original paint was from a kerosene heater but itappears to be a clear finish that was applied many years ago, which has now turned color. The car does appear to have some layers of paint over the original turquoise but the door jams, trunk and interiorare definitely original factory paint. I have started sanding the front of the hood with 2000 paper and this is revealing what appears to be the originalturquoise. I have also started on the trunk at the Chevrolet emblem and at the lower right. The Brake master cyclinder was full of crystalized fluid, which has been cleaned out and new fluid added. Thebrakes are now working. The engine oil has likely been in the car a long time but was still clean and golden. We cleaned out the fuel line and added fresh gas and after filling the float bowl many times and working thechoke loose it fired and runs really well. Anti Freeze along with a can of K seal was added. The radiator hassome leaks but is sealing up pretty well. The water pump is noisy but the engine purrs and is really quiet.

At the bottom of this description is a youtube link to the engine running.

You can see some of the factory options such as the 283 2 barrel, Compass, tissue dispenser, rear speaker, litter

container, under hood lights, power brakes. Even the tissue box inside the dispenser appears to be from the 50s!

I believe all 4 tires currently on the car are the original tires that came on the car. The spare is certainly original.

This has to be the cleanest body you'll ever find and definitely one of the lowest mileage 57 Bel Airs there is in

existence and untouched original.. except for the exterior paint on the lower body.

Yes you can easily find a restored car but finding an original car with under 5k miles is not going to be easy.

I think this car needs to be left alone except for doing a repaint on the exterior. The white top is original paint

and should be left alone. There is no reason to do any paint work on door jams, interior, trunk or anywhere else

except the lower exterior. This should be the easiest paint prep imaginable on a 1957 Chevy. No body work is

needed and the car is super straight. It simply needs sanded and painted. You could probably block out the car

by hand to get it ready for primer and paint.

Maybe you would want to put a different set of wheels and tires on here to drive it but I would not remove the

original tires from the wheels.

The belt and hoses appear to be original from 1957. Once again, maybe you want to change these but I would

certainly save the original. The brakes will need some more checking before taking this on the road and the

radiator may need repair. The original carpet looks new under the floor mats. I believe with a good cleaning, the

original carpet can be brought back to life and should be saved and left in the car.

There are oil change records on the driver door and a radiator tag from when the car had 3,523 miles on 10-3-1965.

I removed the radiator tag to keep from destroying it. This was a one owner car from 1957 to 2019.
