1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Description

Big block 454, 3-speed convertible!! $15,000 in mechanical work in last year, Another $20k in work from last owner have all receipts from several stages over the years. Literally a book on the car goes with it that tells its story. Records on hand date back 20 years. Runs excellent. Hagerty values this car at $64,600 average value in its current condition. I bought a cabin and need to sell my toy so I can fix it up. These don't come up for sale very often and are getting more expensive every year.

EXTERIOR: Sharp looker! Glossy cranberry red with black stripes in excellent condition. Has SS raised cowl induction hood and sport mirrors. SS stripes are painted on the correct dimensions. Upfront the grill, bumper, headlight bezels, marker lights are in new condition. In back the bumper and tail lights are in new condition. Door jambs are clean, has new weather strips throughout. It has a power, black convertible top that is new. Looks excellent, has glass window. After-market 18 and 20 inch offset Chip Foose polished aluminum wheels and tires in new condition all around. You get comments everywhere you go. It feels like you are driving in a parade every trip.

INTERIOR: Overall very nice show room condition. Black vinyl interior in new condition. It has a completely restored dash with the new digital after market restomod SS set up. The dash pad, instrument bezel, vents, heater control panel have been recently replaced. New set of factory SS gauges including tachometer. The clock even works. Has a premium retro stereo right in the factory hole. It features Bluetooth, hands free voice control, aux plug and XM satellite. New speakers in the molded kick panels. Between the bucket seats is a factory console the original shifter. The door panels, armrests, carpet have been replaced. Seats are in like new condition.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Genuine 454 engine. Completely rebuilt bored .40 over, new pistons, bearings, roller cam, lifters, valve job etc that run real strong. Upgraded with a Edelbrock polished aluminum dual plenum intake, big dual feed 770 CFM Edelbrock 4 barrell carb that has an electric choke and HEI ignition. Headman Headers. Chrome touches all over. Everything in great clean new condition. Features include tilt power steering and power brakes. Approximately 2,000 miles on new motor. Transmission was rebuilt when engine was done. It is the original Power-glide automatic with a Pro-Tech custom 2800 stall converter. Lumpy at idle and lots of power at take-off! Shifts crisp and as it should. no leaks under car from anything in engine compartment.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Solid trunk floor, it does have a jack & spare. Weather strip is excellent.

UNDERSIDE: The front end was recently rebuilt. Balljoints, springs, bushings, and swaybar. Bottom of the motor is clean. The 3-speed trans and bell housing also looks spotless. It's a Power-glide automatic with a Pro-Tech custom 2800 stall converter. Shift linkage is new. U-joints were replaced. In back it has a 12 bolt rear end, new swaybar and springs. Brakes are new- has disc in front. E-brake cables are hooked up, and rear drums in back. New aftermarket 3 inch exhaust with series 40 Flowmaster mufflers, resonators and correct cow bell tips. Floors look to be original in good solid condition. 112 inch wheelbase. Gas tank and all attachments to it are new.

One bad bowtie! Very desirable car. This is a driver in great condition as is. The car runs & drives excellent and has a good solid body. If you are looking for a great classic Chevy to take to your local shows and cruises, YOU WILL LOVE THIS CAR! It has some surface rust on the chassis at the road level. This car is a great top of the line restomod candidate. It can be put on a modern chassis and made into an amazing restomod. All parts are here and in great condition for a truly top tier 454 SS Convertible restomod project if that is your goal. Otherwise it is a great daily driver.
