For sale: 1952 Chevrolet 3100 five window shortbed. Engine is the original 216 cubic inch inline 6-cylinder with a 3-speed manual on the column. The truck was originally sold new in Neosho, MO.in 1952 and it remained in the same family until 2010.
I am listing this truck for the current owner. He bought the truck in 2010 and had it completely restored beginning in about 2012. For any questions, please call him, Jim Snyder on his cell 620-704-8262, home 620-232-6816 or work 620-235-4454. Or email him at: jsnyder1916@cox.net
This truck has just undergone a complete restoration at a local shop where the goal was to restore it back to absolute original, not show quality. Panel gaps aren't perfect, the paint hasn't been buffed out, and the overall look of the truck is like what would have been found on a 1952 Chevy truck, not a modern street rod. Most parts came from Classic Parts of America in Kansas City. It has been refinished in the original red color with black running boards and the original interior color. The restoration took 3 years and cost well over $15,000 and owner has most receipts. A short list of things that have been gone through and rebuilt or replaced includes:
- Brakes (all mechanical and hydraulics including tubing, rubber lines, shoes, drums, cables, everything.)
- Starter and battery
- Plugs/Plug wires, cap, rotor, points, etc.
- Rebuilt Carburetor
- Clutch and pressure plate
- Shocks
- Fuel pump, fuel lines, gas tank
- Window glass, trim, gaskets and seals
- Parking lights
- Door handles(inside and out)
- 6-ply 600X16 original style tire
- Interior is new and restored as it was in 1952
- Tailgate, and more.
The truck also comes with a restoration manual.
The horn and speedometer do not work and it needs a heater core; however, the truck is in great mechanical condition. It runs and drives very nicely. Does not pull or wander. Runs great, shifts perfect.
The truck is ready to drive and enjoy. The reserve is less than it cost to restore it. The owner has a clear Kansas title in hand and can work with any shipper.
My overall opinion of the truck is that it is nice but not perfect. This is not a concourse restoration. The paint is good but not perfect and has not been buffed and polished. The underside has been cleaned and some of it painted but it is not highly detailed, nor is the engine compartment. This truck is a great driver and something you would not be afraid to drive and enjoy. Or, with some detailing, it could be a nice show truck.
