1969 Chevrolet Camaro Description

Total body off frame restoration as a COPO tribute. There is a pile of receipts and pictures documenting the restoration. It was done 20 years ago and has proven itself, it looks like it was done last year!
COPO stood for Central Office Production Order. The biggest motor you could get in a Camaro was a 396 unless you special ordered the 427. Typically they were stripped down cars, no SS emblems, stripes or extras. Performance was the main objective.
EXTERIOR: Rare color combination. According to the builder there is absolutely no rust or Bondo in this car. New quarters, trunk lid, fenders, cowl hood. It is absolutely straight, panels fit very well. Doors open and close like new. It is smooth all along the bottom, not a single bubble. The paint is like white glass. It is one of the nicest white paint jobs I've seen. The fact it is over 20 years old and hasn't shrunk, bubbled or cracked is extremely impressive. The exterior chrome, bumpers, marker lights, emblems, door handles, mirrors were replaced. It has new stainless trim around the windows, new windshield. The window fuzzy seals and weather strips were replaced, door jambs are detailed. The 15x8 inch rally wheels have new trim. Rear wheels have 4 3/4 back spacing for a deeper look.
INTERIOR: Completely restored from all new wiring to cushions in the seats. The upholstery, headrests, door panels, carpet were replaced. The headliner, sail panels, rear deck area and the trim is all real excellent. The dash pad was replaced. New factory gauges including tachometer and unique gas gauge. It has vintage style oil pressure gauge below the dash. It is upgraded with a retro stereo and embroidered floor mats. Replaced steering wheel on a tilt column.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Dressed as a 427 but actually built as a 439. Dyno tuned at 495 hp and 470 lbs of torque! Completely rebuilt, balanced, ported and shot peened motor. It has square port heads and matched factory aluminum intake. Internally it has forged crank, TRW pistons, Crane mechanical cam, roller rockers, fluid dampener. MSD ignition system. The correct 1969 780 Holley carb was restored. Hooker 2 inch long tube headers are high temp coated inside and out. The compartment is done up real nice. Features include cowl induction air cleaner, power steering and power brakes. Everything is painted up very nicely. It even has the correct curved neck radiator with GM hoses and clamps.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very tidy trunk compartment. All solid clean metal with a nice gray spatter finish. The bottom of the trunk lid and jamb are painted gloss white. The weather strip and rubber mat look new There is a spare tire with a tire cover and an scissors jack.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame and every component under the car is restored. The metal is dry and clean, the floors were so nice they were painted gloss white. Up front it is completely rebuilt- the ball joints, sway bar, bushings, shocks, tie rods etc. It has frame connectors tying the front to the back to prevent body twist. In the back there's Caltrac tubular control arms, new hardware on the leaf springs and the shocks were replaced. Looking up at the motor it's clean. The freeze plugs oil pan bolts, starter all look clean still. It has a rebuilt M-21 Muncie 4-speed with Hayes flywheel and clutch. Shift linkage was replaced. Custom made 3 inch balanced steel driveshaft, u-joints were replaced. Upgraded Ford 9 inch rear end built by Doug Moser. Has 31 spline axles, 3.50 traction lock gears. 3 inch mandral bent aluminized exhaust from header to back bumper. 18 gallon fuel tank, sending unit and anti squeak kit. Brake system was replaced. Stock Camaro disc in front, Ford SVO drums in back. Brake lines and e-brake assembly were replaced.
This is one of the better ones. I aquired this car from a car guy that has high quality cars that are dialed in. It looks great and functions just as well. You will want to get this big block out and shift those gears. All your stress will melt away!
