1994 Chevrolet Caprice 9c1 Description

1994 Caprice 9c1. Hate to see her go. Retired NYPD anti-crime car as its legend goes. Got her from a friend who collects old cop cars. I need space for my next project which is likely a Chevy Nova. Have had the car for a few months and haven't put any miles on it since. Of course test drove after doing work on it to make sure she's good. Just got a brand new water pump. Comes with the Hypertech computer to modify components of the cars computer. COMES WITH A WHOLE BIN OF SPARE COMPONENTS. ORIGINAL 9C1 POLICE RIMS. Still has wiring for lights underneath. Deck and trunk lights still in place just not connected to power: original from police department.
New wires, BRAND NEW brakes and rotors (OVER $300 IN WORK). Oil and filter changed REGULARLY. Still valid inspection. Engine modified with Hypertech computer. 3.43 gears in rear. She feels a lot quicker than a stock 9c1. Last work was a BRAND NEW WATERPUMP AND GASKETS topped with correct anti-freeze. The pump had a leak which slowly depleted the coolant so I just changed the whole thing. Car is going on 23 years old: has a couple of paint chips from rocks and couple small dents where cops knocked some sense into some crooks. Still wonderful shape considering her history.
She runs and drives just fine. However, she seems to be running a little rich. You can hear that she needs a tune and some love to get her dialed in. Just havent had the time to go get new plugs and give her a quick tune up. Since the last owner had it, it was used as a weekender/nostalgia car. Most of the issues like the brakes were because the car wasn't being used. Car is perfect for someone who wants a working, driving, running car to do a little work on and maybe flip it for a quick buck or have a classic reliable daily driver. Have 3 cars at the moment and one of 'em just has to go. Between me and the last owner, shes had less than 30k miles put on her IN THE LAST DECADE. Wonderful, powerful, cool car.
Pros:
3.43 rear gears
Hypertech Car-specific computer has her quick as a fox: you get a jolt when she switches gears: even some tire chirp at WOT.
Runs, Drives, and Turns heads
Weekender driven car
Original service manual
Spotlight
Pushbar
Rear mounted deck lights + truck mounted lights (currently disconnected)
Clean interior: not ripped apart and trashed. All seats intact.
Passed NYS Inspection for 2016: a testament to her mechanical soundness
Cons:
Couple of dime sized rust spots where paint got chipped from a rock or maybe a crooks teeth. Short in the police anti-theft system which is a button hidden under the floor liner where your left foot sits. Havent had time to find and replace the fuse so the car must be started in N because once the car is started it will lock you into Park adn you cannot release the lock. Easy quick fix once you find the fuse. Gas tank float must be stuck because it always reads 3/4 tank. Drop tank, fix float, put tank back - done. Also, sounds like there may a small exhaust leak? - Doesnt mechanically affect the car, just gives it a raspy sound at idle. Sounds also like a bolt on the exhaust is loose that you can hear only at idle. If I had the time to do the work I could fix all these problems in a weekend but I am stacked with work. Probably could use new power steering fluid, feels a bit heavy/ jerky at low speeds. Once you get on the gas, she feels like an untamed beast. Only when she is sitting still can you nitpick these issues. Just trying to be upfront and honest about the cars condition.
Additional Parts Included:
Optispark housing, oil filter, air filter, hypertech computer, LED dash gague, tons of belts, replacement CD radio unit, full sized spare with cover, steering column cover lock, original service manual as well as Haynes service manual, misc. plugs etc.
Tune up should cost like $50 bucks and a weekend to do. You make money on my back because I dont have the time to do simple mechanic work. Trying to get my 240z ready for the summer!
My loss, your gain.
Give me an offer I cant refuse!
