1966 Chevrolet Corvette Description
Yes, it may look ugly but this is your next mid year Corvette project. This Corvette was parked in a garage that caught fire. As you can see, it suffered signifcant fire damage and was paid off by the insurance company. We purchased the vehicle from the insurance company and present it here for sale "as is". Here is what we know. The good, the bad and the ugly.THE GOOD:
Well, first off. Its a 1966 Corvette and that is good in and of itself! Frame is very good! We showed the dog leg portions where some bubbling is just beginning. There is also a very small dent by the rear body mount on passenger side. Very solid frame!
Prior to fire, this was a fully sorted car that had some regular usage. It runs and drives currently but is only "lot" driveable. Engine is dated correctly for a 1966 Corvette and it is possibly the original engine but the VIN stamping has been machined and is no longer readable.
Seat frames are rebuildable. Many of the gauges work and will need minor refreshing. Top frame is rebuildable and complete! Cowl is intact and largely undamaged!
VIN AND TRIM TAG INTACT AND UNDAMAGED and its a great color combo, Ermine White with Red Interior!
THE BAD and the UGLY:
It was in a fire. I could stop right there. It obviously needs everything on the exterior and most of the interior. Its also missing its hood and its exhaust. This car was originally a rear exit exhaust but was converted to side pipes at some point and they are missing. Plan on replacing everything that is rubber on the car (lines and hoses ) as it got quite hot. Wiring under the hood is also burnt. Front bumpers are missing as they were being replaced in the shop that this fire occurred.
For you NUMBERS guys. Here is what we know and this is all we know. We are not MID YEAR experts as most of our Corvette knowledge is 68 and up.
