Are you looking for an unmolested 1955 1st Series Chevrolet 3100 Pickup Truck Project? This is it... a local barn find 1955 Chevrolet 1st series 3100 Pickup Truck that has been stored in a barn for years. Please review all photos and item description before bidding. This classic survivor spent much of its life stored near Waukesha, WI and is a fairly original vehicle. It is in need of a complete restoration as you can see. Please scroll down and enjoy the 300+ photos. If you cannot view all the photos, please click here.
The 1st Series was nearly identical to the 1954 model year, except redesigned hood-side emblems and modern open driveshaft in place of enclosed torque tube. The serial number codes unchanged from 1953 and 1954, and they were built for the first few months of the 1955 model year as the new truck was introduced. They are fairly scarce and were produced in small numbers.
Condition Report:
This vehicle has been stored for years. It needs to be disassembled and restored and is not for the faint of heart. While it appears nearly all original, it needs to be completely restored. The truck is dirty, the paint is faded, and the engine may be stuck. We are unsure if the engine is original to the truck. In addition, it will need brakes, lines, and just about everything else to run and be roadworthy. Note we have a number of engine parts such as the radiator, radiator support, starter and other components included that are shown in the photos.
The interior shows wear and needs a good cleaning as well. The side vent windows are cracked as is the driver window. The windshield, passenger and rear window are good but show wear. It rolls and steers well, but the tires are dry rotted.
The bed mounts are rusted and can be partially lifted off the body. The frame looks good but the sheet metal has perforations. It appears the original color is red with a gray interior. The firewall looks awesome and we believe shows the original paint / color.
The good news is that the truck appears to be fairly complete and they reproduce most or all of the sheet metal that is rusted. It also has a clear title but is bonded from being lost years ago. email us if you are unclear what a bonded title is. Essentially, it is a guarantee of clear title when the title is lost.
To summarize, it is our opinion that this vintage 1955 Chevy 3100 Pickup would be a very nice addition to anyone's collection but needs a complete restoration and is being sold as-is-where-is. This rare find would make a great project for the Chevrolet pickup truck enthusiast, father and son or weekend mechanic.
