1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Description

NUMBERS MATCHING 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS, 283 2bbl carb, Powerglide automatic transmission, 10 bolt rear end, 64,724.8 original miles... hasn't been driven since the 1980's
.
NUMBERS MATCHING - The VIN, engine ID code and transmission oil pan code match the included original Protect-O-Plate card. The rear axle code could not be located (the rear end casting number is 3863495N, which some claim is fairly rare to 65 Chevelles) nor could I find a partial VIN code on the transmission, but I have no reason to believe either are not original to the car. Service documentation shows the Powerglide had been worked on in the mid 80's. As far as I can tell from the paper work, the tranny was rebuilt and not replaced, so I believe the oil pan is still bolted to the original transmission. The trim tag and engine/transmission codes shows the car to be an early model which was assembled at the Baltimore, Maryland plant in August 1964. The delivery date written in the Chevrolet Owner Protection Plan warranty booklet is October, 7 1964. In no way, shape or form do I claim to be a Chevelle numbers expert; I've been educated by Google. I have included pictures of all the stampings and tags, so if I have decoded anything incorrectly, feel free to correct me.
ABOUT THE CAR - The 283 hasn't been started in five years, but it is not locked up; you can turn it over by hand. The car was disassembled and the majority of the small parts/trim have been labeled and boxed. The interior is complete minus the carpet and headliner but will need restored (the original seat covers have the early ribbed centers); there are no cracks in the dash pad or steering wheel. The only other items missing that I am aware of are the heater box cover, blower motor, wheel opening moldings, rocker panel moldings, radio and original wheel covers.
A COMPLETE CAR THAT NEEDS A TOTAL RESTORATION - The frame is in rough shape. The floor/trunk pans, rear quarters, a fender or two and many other body panels/sheet metal parts, interior/exterior parts will need replaced or repaired. This is a 51 year old Ohio car... it has rust. Please look at the pictures carefully and ask any questions before buying or making an offer. This would be a nice car to restore or a perfect donor car for someone restoring or recreating a Malibu SS.
Included is a very usable 1964 Chevelle front end which consist of fenders, inner fenders, radiator support, grille and front/rear bumpers. Also included is the original 1965 owners manual with the protective plastic sleeve, Owner Protection Plan booklet with the Protect-O-Plate card, 1965 Custom Feature Accessories booklet, trim sheet, original dealer window sticker, original Opti-Kleen washer bottle with cap and service documentation from the 70's and 80's.
Although the car was disassembled, I have since bolted on the doors, fenders and trunk lid to help with transporting the vehicle. The hood is in place and latched, but the hinges are not installed, so a strap may be needed to hold it in place. There are plenty of loose parts, so be sure to bring a vehicle that can accommodate everything.
The car is being sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. A non-refundable PayPal deposit of $175 is due within 24 hours upon "Buy It Now" or acceptance of "Best Offer". The remainder balance can be made with CASH upon pickup of the vehicle. We do not deliver or make arrangements for vehicle deliveries. The vehicle is located in Albany, Ohio 45710.
Please take a good look at the pictures and ask any questions before buying or making an offer.
