1964 Chevrolet Corvair Description

:

RARE BARN FIND CORVAIR!!!!!!

Other than a Yenko type Corvair, this has to be tops on the list for a Corvair Enthusiast?? A Holy Grail type Corvair if you will? This one restored will easily bring $25,000+ and there is not much $ in items to do to it.

If you are Going to Own, Drive & Show a Corvair why not Own the Top of the Line/Best one out there??

Why is this one ???

Not only the Factory Black Color but... Here’s why…

Its a...1964 Corvair

1. Convertible!

2. 4 Speed!

3. Factory Turbo Charged!

4. Split Front Bumper (1 of roughly 300 Made Dealer install/after Market RaRE Items)!!!!

Clip from Corvair Blog on Split Bumper.... Those are period Cal Custom aftermarket bumpers. True aftermarket and VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, rare...
They were not a Sprint accessory, but Tom Severson's Fitch Sprint has worn a set of them since 1964 and has appeared at nearly every National Convention...

FROM 1963 CAR CRAFT MAG. ARTICLE ON CAL CUSTOMS CORVAIR BUMPERS

6. Extra Rare Factory Style Oil Pressure & Temp Gauges

7. Extra deep Factory oil Pan & Many more Options that were a Factory Turbo Package Option

This is a car that needs restoration but with little effort can be daily driver while completing " a restoration as you go".

Car is locally advertised so in the event an offer is accepted, I reserve right to end auction early so do not wait to bid.

I will be happy to answer any questions. Just email them. I also encourage the prospective buyers to view the car first if possible? Or have someone look at it for you. I want buyers to make their own determination as to the value of the carto themselvesvia an in person inspection if possible? I try to disclose any and all defects in my cars but opinions very so please look at photos and ask questions. Assume nothing. I take pride in my listings and want nothing but satisfaction from my buyers.

This caris a Very Good Candidate for restoration. Barn Find always been stored indoors. Very Solid Rare Project Car to Restore. Body lines are Straight. No body filler work has been found on this car. Panels appear to be all original sheet metal.

Interior:Seats in car are original and in very good condition. No flaws in material that I can find. Dash is in good shape along with the gauges. This car has a rare oil pressure and temperature gauge on dash. It might very well be a rare option or dealer install?? In any case, the gauges are period correct and look to match the car exactly. The carpet has been removed to show the solid floors. It was faded. We purchased a brand new Full Factory Black Loop Carpet set with jute padding that is still in box. It will go with car.

Exterior:

Exterior is its Original Black paint color. Looks like it has been re-sprayed in a few spots over the years but nothing done to it in the past 30+years. All the sheet metal on the body looks to be original with no rust thru or body fillers. Very straight car looking down the sides. It does have minor dings, scratches from the years of storage as to be expected with a 40+ year old car. The current condition of the paint is driver quality with flaws like chips and scratches etc. I am sure it can be cleaned up or wet sanded to look good but Really should be repainted to do it justice. Hood has a paint blemish where a car battery sat on it during storage. It made an impression of a rectangle in the paint but no rust or dent it just bubbled the paint a bit. I recommend a sanding car and fresh black paint to make this car show like new!

Underside: Underneath the car is dry and only shows surface rust. Very solid in my opinion with little to no issues noted.

Inside trunk (Front) Original spatter paint still there. There is rust discoloration in spots but all it solid. No soft spots were found. The car overall is very solid and mostly rust free.

Engine:

All necessary items have just been completed to start the car including, new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, oil change, new plugs, new cap/rotor, points and more. The car starts and runs. It will need tuned and timing set etc. to be 100%drive-ablealong withbrakeservice. Breaks should be bled and serviced before driving. Car will run and drive to load onto trailer for shipping.

IT DOES APPEAR TO NEED SOME O-RING WORK AS THERE IS A FAIR AMOUNT OF SMOKE AND OIL LEAKING ONCE SHE IS UP TO TEMP. I AM SURE THE 35 YEARS OF SITTING DRIED UP SOME O RING SEALS!!

ALSO LOOKS LIKE BOTH EXHAUSTDOUGHNUTGASKETS NEED REPLACED AS THE EXHAUST IS LEAKING THERE ON EACH SIDE.

Top: The White Convertibleto is in very good condition as you can see from the photos. The rear window is Clear and in good shape.

Currently the Following have Already been Completed:

New Period Correct Tires (US Royal Safety 800 Bias Tires)

New Fuel Tank

New Fuel Pump

New Fuel Filter

New K&N Air Filter

New Ignition Coil

Oil Changed

Note:This car is an easy project and will no doubt be valued on the highest end of Corvair's when complete.
