1928 Citroën AC4 Description

I am very proud to offer this Iconic French 6 window limousine lovingly portrayed in wold famous comics Tintin* in timeless French blue & black colour combo. This extremely rare find in North America celebrates its 91th birthday this year!

Legend goes that this vehicle is one of 3 Citroen AC4’s exported to America by André Citroen in 1928 to show to Henry Ford. One of the three was destroyed, the other became a taxi, and this one was lovingly cherished by the same French Canadian family for most of it’s life.

This 1928 Citroen AC4 Saloon was beautifully restored in Quebec in the mid 80’s and is in excellent condition. The paint shows minor wear and flaws such as 2 rust spots on front door hinges (please refer to pictures) and cracking on lower portion of driver rear fender as expected from a vehicle that was driven and shown . Still presents strongly at any event or classic car show with only minor touch ups required.

To the interior is finished in a grey pattern cloth to the front and rear seats giving the Citroen AC4 limousine a practical, sympathetic appeal with no rips or tares. Grey carpets are fitted throughout. All interior woodwork has been removed and refinished at the time.

The Citroen’s odometer reads 35,426 km or 22,018 miles (actual mileage unkown). The car has been stored for several years without being driven and has recently been gone over by a Citroen specialist. The original 1600 CC starts and runs, and the original matching number drivetrain has never been restored, a testimony this models astonishing durability. The Citroen AC4 Saloon is equipped with four wheel cable drum brakes.

The Citroen AC4 limousine has a commodious luggage trunk to the rear providing a large space. It is split into two parts with a tool tray to the top accessed by a folding lid. Original period headlamps are fitted up front. Jaeger Instruments are fitted to the dash including clock. This is a delightful little Citroen AC4 Saloon to drive with an easy to master three speed gear box, and light steering. It is currently registered in Canada. This musium piece is perfect for short jaunts or show as. It brings a smile to the face of all who behold it.
