1929 Desoto 4 door hot rod.1970 rebuilt 355 chevy with double jump heads, mild cam, Trw forged pistons, ram horn exhaust.New 471 Dyers blower.About 500 miles on car now.Starts instantly and runs and sounds super.Tci turbo 400 streetfighter trans and stall converter.Boxed in frame.Narrowed 9" Ford rearend.Posi rearend.3 linkLadder barsEbock Coil springs in back.Speedway dropped axle in front.New Cadillac disc brakes on all 4 corners.New Torque thrust wheels.New Firestone 10.00 piecrust cheater slicks. All new brake lines.New fuel lines.New guage cluster.Custom bomber style seats.New wiring but needs cleaned up under dash, just havnt had time to mess with it.Back doors are screwed down. I have a bunch of interior parts and wood door panels for the car.I built this just to run around to some of the shows and to have some fun. I got to the point where I could drive it for the summer and then quit working on it. I've just been driving it as you see it.There are a couple things that will need attention this winter .I took both the gas tank and the huge radiator to a local shop to pressure test and clean and have ready for the car. Both pieces leaked after install??? I didnt feal like taking them out again. Both leaks are very minor. The radiator doesn't leak unless I use the 16 lb. Cap with my skull mounted to it. The leak is at the top at the seam.If i run the 8 lb cap it does not leak at all.I can run 100 miles and it's fine. I've drove like this since done and it stays a perfectly cool 180 degrees all day. Even sitting in traffic. The gas tank will leak one day a few spots and then nothing.I can go to a show and sit for a couple hours and there will be no coolant or gas leaks showing. It's usually just while sitting at my house for hours or days at a time.
The car gets huge amounts of looks, thumbs up and comments while I'm out in it.
The ride in this old thing is as expected in an old gasser style leaf spring front end car with no interior and no carpet.
ROUGH AND NOISY BUT WITH A NICE RUMBLE.
I'm sure a set of Qa1 coil over shocks would tame it down tremendously though.
I can run it down the highway at 75 mph all day one hand, but hit some good bumps and you know what your driving lol.Anyhow here it is. Trades welcome.
