1970 Dodge Challenger Description

All matching numbers 1970 383 4-Speed Pistol Grip Challenger for total restoration.

If you are reading this posting you know the rarity and desirability of this car. Please read the complete description.

This is a complete all matching number 1970 Challenger 383 4-speed pistol grip car with fender tag, door tag and numbers stamped on cowl and radiator support and clear title. This is a rare car as it was ordered with a big block and 4 speed but without any Rallye options (it was ordered as a sleeper). I have a Rallye hood that I will add with the car.

All frame rails to include the areas where the torsion bars mount, rocker panels below the doors and inner sills are all very solid. The door pillar posts and sections where the hinges mount are solid and the doors open and close without issue.

The bad news is that the underside (with the exceptions noted above) and the roof are rusted badly. I last drove the car about 15 years ago. At that time is ran great. I removed the vinyl top to find the roof was rusted. It has rust holes along the front and rear edges and will need replaced. The entire underside (main floors and trunk floor) all have rust and will need replaced. The windshield posts have rust on the outside but appear solid on the inside. I was able to push a screwdriver through the outer part but it stopped and would not go all the way through. This tells me the inside piece is still solid. A visual inspection of the passenger side inside windshield post from the inside shows this to be true - that the inside post is solid. The trim molding is still on the driver's side inside windshield post but all tests indicate it is in the same condition as the passenger side.

I have added pictures of the worst places on the car as far as rust goes.

It appears to be originally sublime green with black interior.
It originally came with a flat hood but I have a nice Rally hood that goes with the car. The flat hood is in good condition.
It has a non-Rally dash (still installed in the car)
The original engine and pistol grip transmission are still in the car.
It comes with 4 speed center console that I have removed from the car but comes with the car.
The rear valance is rusted badly and need replaced. The font valance is decent. The front fenders are decent/fixable. The rear quarters have rust in lower sections and need the lower sections replaced as a minimum.
The font grille is in the car and in good condition. It has been painted along the way and will need cleaned and repainted.
It has all glass still in the car. The front windshield has a crack in it on the driver's side.

I removed the vinyl top and interior but have all the interior inside my garage.
• Center console removed from car but comes with car.
• Correct seats removed from the car but come with the car. Will need recovered.
• Carpet removed (needs replaced)
• Door panels removed but come with car. In decent condition.
• Rear panels removed but come with car. In decent condition.

It has 14 inch Rally wheels. I recently put 2 new front tires on it.
