1967 Dodge Coronet 500
This 1967 Dodge Coronet 500 is a very solid car. No rust or rot in any of the floorboards, rocker panels, doorjambs, etc. The bottom edge of the doors, trunk and hood are solid – as you can see in the photos. This is a driver-quality car, and won’t win any trophies as it is, but it is a great foundation for restoration, hot rodding, or a fun daily driver. It does need some refinement – it’s a 47-year-old car, and like it’s current owner: it does have some minor squeaks, rattles, scratches and dings.
Body is very solid throughout. No rust or sub-frame damage. The paint is newer, and is holding up well. Again, it is driver-quality, not a show winner. (Yet!) I stripped and repainted the rally wheels, and all 4 tires have a lot of tread left on them.
Engine was just tuned up withal new spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condenser, and points. Starts up great every time! The Carburetor is a professionally rebuilt Carter AFB (dated coded 1967) and it sits on an Edelbrock RPM Performer dual-plane intake. New header gaskets have just been installed on the long tube headers. The brakes have been inspected, and revealed that the brakes have recently been redone, and the brake shoes are in great shape.
The power steering gear has been replaced with a rebuilt unit from Lares, and it works great!
This is an original Airtemp car. The compressor, condenser, and the dash controls are missing. The Airtemp heater box is still in the car and appears to be complete.
The front buckets and rear seat have been custom reupholstered in black vinyl. The carpet is in very good shape, and appears to be newer. Headliner appears to be original, and is in good shape, no holes or tears. Door panels are in good shape, solid backer boards, good armrests. The center console has been repainted satin black, and has a brand new floor shifter installed.
The interior door handles, armrest bases and window cranks have been replaced with new chrome pieces. The original remote control driver’s side mirror works well.
Both doors have had their hinges completely rebuilt, and the door themselves were aligned at a professional restoration shop.
New door and side window weather-stripping has been installed, as well as new vent window channel on the driver’s door. The window crank on the driver’s door was removed, stripped, lubricated and reinstalled with new channel guides. It operates very smoothly and with minimal effort.
