Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one ofmy NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.
Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1989 Ford F-150 Custom. The F-Series is the best selling family of trucks for a good reason. Their reputation for rugged constrution and reliability is no secret...and this truck is no exception. I would rate the exterior of this F-150 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. Obviously, this truck is finished in either black primer or black spray can...which actually doesn't look hateful. It looks like previous rust on the fenders and a spot or two behind the rear wheels has been cut out and replaced with new sheet metal that has been riveted in. There is a little rust in the door area, but that's about it. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and tail gate all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory steel wheels show well and are wrapped in a nice set of rubber with average tread all around. This truck looks to have a small suspension lift, maybe 2-3", which gives it an aggressive stance. Please take your time to check out each of the photos carefully.
I would rate the interior of this truck to also be in AVERAGE CONDITION. The door panels are clean and tight. The carpet has been removed. The cloth bench seat shows remarkably well and is comfortable. The dash and headliner are clean. The factory radio has been upgraded with an aftermarket CD player, which sounds good. The climate control system also appears to be working properly. The heater works well. The air conditioner may need charged for next season, but I can hear the compressor kick on and off...which is a sign of low charge. Most everything in the interior is pretty basic, as you'd expect.
Mechanically, this F-150 appears to be in good running and driving condition. This truck has the desirable 300ci inline six cylinder engine with a five speed manual behind it...so this truck is virtually indestructible. The big six starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an old truck. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The steering does wonder a little bit, which is common with an older lifted truck. The tires are wearing evenly so there are no evident issues. The engine runs strong and smoothly. The clutch engages smoothly and does not slip or chatter. Gear changes through the manual transmission are clean and precise, as they should be. This truck has the reliable manual hubs and manual transfer case, too. The 4WD system is tested and working properly. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with no complaints. If you're looking for a rock solid old F-150, this long bed truck deserves your serious consideration. These trucks are getting hard to find not all used up and rotted out. You could keep this truck the way it is and have a solid, reliable truck or paint it and have something that really turns heads. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
