Vintage F150 Pickup Truck V8 4 Speed Runs/Drives Great Daily Driver Rat Hot Rod
1980 Ford F-150 Shortbed Stepside Description
Nicely patina'd, great running and driving, V8 and 4 Speed Manual equipped (with granny low), well preserved, hard-to-find 1980 Ford F150 stepside shortbed. This truck originally came with a 300cid Straight Six but has now been upgraded to a 351cid (5.8l) Windsor V8 from a 1984 Ford truck. It's a great daily driver as is and can be enjoyed immediately. You can leave the cosmetics as they are or work on them while you drive it.
The running gear is in excellent condition. It starts, idles, shifts, accelerates, turns, brakes and stops really well. Brake pads and shoes are in good condition but it will need front rotors. Some of the front and rear suspension bushings have been upgraded to polyurethane. Also, it has a small power steering fluid leak. The exhaust system is just a straight pipe so it's a little loud (but not too much). Tires are rollers and will need to be replaced.
The interior is in pretty decent, unbutchered condition. Dash pad is cracked (to be expected in our desert climate) but dash hasn't been cut up at all. One hole has been drilled to the left of the steering column for a toggle switch and an aftermarket CD player installed but that's it. Gauges, heater fan, horn, blinkers, wipers and lights all work. Driver side floorboard has light rust but it has all been treated with a rust neutralizer so it won't spread.
The exterior needs a modest amount of work to be pristine (or just leave it alone). As you can see, some of the work has already been started on the fenders. The driver side rear fiberglass fender (cracking) and front fenders (prior rust) need to be finished. It also needs cab corners repaired or replaced (very inexpensive to purchase). They have also been treated with a rust neutralizer. All glass is good, windows roll up and down properly, and doors open and close solidly.
1980 was the first year of this body style and represents the beginning of the modern era for Ford trucks. You will find shortbeds are less common and stepsides downright rare. And while the bed isn't perfect, it is very salvageable (ask for additional pics). Also, I've included a picture from the 2016 SEMA Show which gives you an idea of what rodders are doing with them.
My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have about 150 pictures that show every nook and cranny in great detail (including the undercarriage). Send or text me your email address and I'll get them to you. This very cool 1980 Ford F-150 shortbed stepside pickup truck is located in the dry, desert community of Washington, Utah(about 125 miles north of Las Vegas). Good luck and good bidding.
