Vintage Stock Original Rust Free Runs/Drives Great Low Miles Daily Driver
1979 Ford Ranchero 500 Description
Very impressive, stock and original, cancer-free, great running and driving 1979 Ford Ranchero 500 with only 70k miles. This is a really well-preserved example that has spent all of it's life away from the ocean in the Northwest and desert Southwest. My buddy the collector is thinning his herd and this one's got to go. I'm the Ebay go-to guy among my friends and family so he asked me to sell it for him.
The exterior is awesome. Awesome to me is a cancer-free, accident-free body. I love patina and this Ranchero has it. The body is in great condition with justa dent on the tailgate and lower left rear quarter panel (ask for my extra pics to see close-ups) and the occasional door ding. Paint is a nicelypatina'd (I'd keep it that way) respray from long ago in the original color. I waxed it but it could still use a good buffing. It has light surface rust in the typical places but nothing major. The undercarriage is very clean and cancer-free and looks all of 70k miles. All glass is good, windows roll up and down properly and doors open and shut solidly. Most exterior lights work.
The interior is in very good, original condition. Upholstery has aged really well with no tears in the seat or headliner and just two sun cracks in the dash pad. Door panels have aged well. All gauges work other than the clock and fuel gauge. Radio, horn, and wipers do not work (I think it's just the wiper switch). The shoulder belts were removed at some point but the lap belts are still there.
The running gear is excellent with a stock 302cid V8 hooked up to a C-4 automatic transmission running to a 9 inch rear differential. It runs and drives very tightly with no rattles or looseness coming from anywhere. Suspension works great, it turns smoothly and nicely, brakes straight, etc, and really drives the way you would expect it should with only 70k miles. Both the exhaust and rear brakes were replaced less than 500 miles ago. Water pump and fuel pump are new and the carb was just rebuilt. Tires are older and best considered rollers.
It's ready to be a driver today. It came from the Northwest almost 8 years ago and was never driven regularly until recently so it still has a clear Washington State title. Also, all smog equipment is still installed so passing emissions (if your state requires it on vehicles this old) should be easy.
